A Miraculous Tragedy

"So, what happened in the game tonight?" Haley asked quizetivally.
"Can we not talk about the game right now, I will hear enough about it when I get home," Nathan said.
"How have you been Hales?" Nathan asked.
"Good, I guess, we had this new kid in the tutoring center and they assigned him to me, so I have been a little swamped with tutoring and cheerleading and everything else.
"Yea, I know what you mean," Nathan stated.
"Haley, can I ask you something," Nathan said.
"Yea, Nathan what's going on?" Haley questioned.
"It's just, Haley, right now I feel so broken," Nathan let out, almost in tears.
"It's going to be okay Nathan, what happened," Haley asked with tears building in her eyes.
"My parents could fall off the face of the earth, and I wouldn't care because I always had you, but now I feel like I don't.
"Nathan you always have me, no matter what is going on with us, I am always here for you," Haley said with the tears beginning to fall.
"Do you want to go somewhere with me?" Nathan asked.
"Yea," Haley said, hoping not to sound to eager.
A little while later they arrived at the beach.
"What are we doing here," Haley asked.
"I just don't want to go home tonight, I would rather be alone then with them" Nathan said.
"Okay, well I'll just go, and let you have your time to yourself," Haley said heartbroken inside.
"No, Haley stay, I need you," Nathan said.
"You didn't have to ask," Haley stated.
She sat down beside him on the sand and for a while, it was almost as if it was how it used to be with them. But neither one of them knew what lied ahead.
