March 5,2005
This is in memory of our snare drummer Caleb Bishop.

On March 5,2005 the band was arriving for their last matinee of Meet Me in St. Louis and only one was missing. It was sophomore snare drummer Caleb Bishop. We heard from some late arrivals that there was a horrible car wreck right down the street from school and confirmed it was his truck. Our president gathered everyone into the performing arts center to pray. In the middle of the prayer the med chopper flew over the school. The band director left immediately for the hospital while the pianist moved to the front to direct. The performance had started and throughout the 1st Act close friends frequently used their cellphones to learn of Caleb's health. Before the last song of the 1st Act I saw Amanda Wood in Mr. Dale's office crying. During the song I kept thinking of what was going on with Caleb and the thought of death crossed my mind, centerstage. I tried to keep up with the choreography but my mind was at the hospital wondering and hoping. We all went backstage to change when my friend Jesse Anne Limbscomb came in crying and announcing his death. I sat in shock while all the kids around me cried and comforted each other. All of a sudden I didn't care if that dress was rubbing a rash or covered with lace, I cared about the rest of the band and Caleb's family. Tears started to pour over the corners of my eyes and I hugged the closest person to me. Then I walked in the band room to see something I will never forget. Prayer circles and those who didn't even know each other hugging. Those who were affected most were either in shock or wailing. Mr. Dale got back from the hospital causing a huddle of the band members to form at the door providing comfort to every member. This event changed the school forever but most of all formed an unbreakable bond in the band making it stronger and ready for anything.
Caleb did everything to the best of his ability and never quit trying. His memory will forever stay in our hearts and we will never forget what began March 5,2005.
