Anticipation
Jack rolled onto his back and looked up to the sky. His dark eyes idly lingering over the white light that was touching her skin. They were hidden in the green darkness of the bamboos, brushing gently in the wind.
No one would know - he thought. No one would know if he suddenly reached out and touched her.
Dark hair.
As if aware of his gaze, she turned and looked over her shoulder. Her quiet eyes locking with his.
"What's wrong?" she said.
Jack's face dodged away hers.
"You were supposed to be looking for Aloe Vera? Remember?" Sun's eyebrow arched slightly, "not lazing around sleeping!"
"I wasn't sleeping."
"Sure," She rolled her eyes gently and then threw her bag down next to him.
"You should rest though," She said calmly looking over him, "You look tired."
Savour it Jack, it's not often you get taken care of. His eyes flickered towards her. The weight of her stare was lowering him to rest over the mossy ground.
Well... just for a moment. He thought, as his lids closed to shut away the daylight.
"Sleep," she whispered.
"Oh is that an order?" he said drowsily.
He could hear the smile creeping into the corner of her mouth, "Yes. Doctors orders."
"I thought I was the doctor round here?"
He was waiting for her to smile again. But nothing came, for she was looking out to the ocean.
He was going to tell her not to give up on hope. That Jin would come back for her and take her away from this island. They could to start a fresh new life in LA.
But that would be a lie.
Because sometimes Jack would wish that Jin would never come back.
Because if Jin came back...
Jack's dark eyes cast over Sun.
His throat began to slightly parch.
Jack closed his eyes again, "Are you heading back?"
"I better stay with you," said Sun firmly.
That comment caught him off guard. Jack lifted his head from the ground in a quiet protest. She didn't need to stay here just so he could sleep.
Maybe she was aware of that. Maybe she wanted to stay with him.
She nudged a smirk into the corners of her lips, "I mean, who's going to protect you from that thing in the jungle if I'm not here?"
Jack smiled.
He wasn't even going to try and argue with her.
He didn't want to.
