Summary: What could have happened after Kate kissed Jack. Of course, JATE. What else would it be? Will their relationship be taken to the next level? Have they crossed the line of their friendship and can never go back? All these questions could be answered in this one-shot.

------------------------------------------

Jack snapped out of his daze after his brain processed what just happened.

"Kate!" Jack shouted. "Wait!"

Kate just ignored him and kept running away. Instead of stopping as he wanted, Kate sped up and ran towards the beach.

"Hey Kate." Charlie called out by one of the many campfires. "Where's the fire?"

"No where." She replied. "Have you seen Claire? I need to talk to her."

Before Charlie could answer, Jack showed up and interrupted.

"Kate, we need to talk."

"Not now," She said. "I'm busy."

"No we need to talk now."

"Okay… I'll just be over there, while you two work out your problems."

Kate sighed. "What do you want Jack?"

"We need to talk about what just happened."

Kate wouldn't look at him. She turned and looked at the spot behind him. "There's nothing to talk about." She started to walk away again.

"You can't walk away from everything Kate." Jack said as he grabbed her arm.

"Let go of me." Kate said in a low warning voice.

They were so busy arguing they didn't notice the crowd that was forming near them, watching what was happening.

Only when the murmuring got louder did it penetrate their own little world that had formed during their quarrel.

"Let's move this to some where else." Kate said softly. "I don't want to be the island gossip even more than I am now."

"Fine," Jack said resigning, "but we're not done yet."

They moved themselves away from the islanders and into the forest.

"There is nothing to say." Kate said. "Now please kindly release my arm."

"Yes there are things to say."

"What do you want me to say?" Kate said, her rage releasing from their first conversation. "Huh? What do you want me to say?"

"I want you to tell me the truth." Jack said, his volume rising to match hers.

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" She shouted before finally breaking down. "You can't handle it." She said sobbing. "I can't handle it."

"Shhhh." Jack whispered to her. "It's okay." Jack wrapped his arms around her protectively. "It's going to be okay."

Jack leaned down and kissed her forehead repeating, "It's okay, it's going to be okay."

Kate slowly stopped sobbing, instead only letting a few tears fall.

Jack tilted her head up and brushed away the stray tears. "It's going to be fine."

"I don't care about your past." Jack said. "I love you for you." He finally admitted.

She stared at him through wet eyes. "I love you too." She said silently before leaning in.

Jack also felt himself leaning in. Their lips finally met for the kiss everyone had known would happen except for themselves.
