'No pain, no feeling at all. The where and the when meant nothing to me. I was neither here, nor was I there. I felt life slipping out of me, but I did not struggle. I did what I had to, and had no reason to stay any longer. So I left...'

"My head..." he complained, getting up. "What happened here?"

The sky suddenly turned black, and the air got cold. He shivered. Rain started to fall from the sky in sheets. A bright crimson light appeared before him, and a tall creature dressed in black robes stepped out. A scythe gleamed dangerously in his hands. "I was wondering when I would be seeing you again..."

He seemed so familiar...Who was he? How did he know him?

The creature pulled down his hood, revealing a humanoid skull with eye sockets as black as the night, and just as unforgiving. The smaller creature stepped back in suprise. The humanoid cocked its head at him. "Aren't you happy to see me?"

"That depends...Should I know you?"

"I am known as the Grim Reaper, the bringer of souls to the UnderWorld."

"Then why are you here? I haven't died, or anything like that."

"Take a look for yourself..." it motioned to the crater the smaller creature had crawled out of. He couldn't believe his eyes. It was him, or at least it was his body. It was battered, and looked like it had gone through a tornado, or worse. He examined his hands, and found them to look completely normal. But then they dissapeared.

The Grim Reaper sighed. "You have an option, my dear boy." It conjured up a ball of flames in its hand that was seemingly unaffected by the rain. "You can either stay here with your body, or wander the earth for eternity."

He closed his eyes, and thought hard. "I'm not going to stay here, and be reminded of my demise," he whispered. "I choose to go."

The flame in the Grim Reaper's hand glowed a bright blue. "A wise choice," it said, and the flame engulfed its whole hand. It placed a flaming finger on the small creature's chest, and left a blue, flame-shaped mark. "If you even try to come back, this flame will overcome your soul, and you will be lost forever more. Now leave this place, and never return!" With a wave of his hand, he dissapeared.

The creature took one last look at his body, and ran off. It grew darker and darker the farther he went from his 'grave'. The rain came down harder, but it went right through him, leaving him with a cold and empty feeling. He wasn't sure where he was going, but he trusted his feet to lead him to safety.

After many hours of traveling alone, he ended up in a graveyard. The rain had stopped, and fog covered the ground, obscuring many of the headstones. Frightened, he dashed out as quickly as he could. The creature stopped in a dark alley, and fell asleep.

In a house only a few blocks away, a dog woke up, and began to growl savagely. Its black-furred skin rippled as its muscles moved underneath. The dog's owner was quick to notice, and immediatley went over to calm the dog. "What is it, boy?" But something was terribly wrong.

The man could see his breath, and it wasn't even cold. His dog growled again, and became transparent. It ran through the wall. "Geez, I can't even have a normal dog, can I?" He sighed. "I'm goin' ghost hunting, be back soon!"

"Don't forget to pick up some milk!" a feminine voice called back.

The small creature woke up to the sound of a blood-curdling howl. The dog phazed through the dumpster, and looked at him with glowing red eyes and a drooling mouth bearing huge teeth. A white-haired man in a black jumpsuit blocked his only exit. His jumpsuit had a large white 'D' on it. "Woah!" he said in surprise. "Okay then, one, who are you? And two, what are you?"

The creature, seeing no other means of escape, decided to answers the man's questions. "My name..."
