Duo Maxwell was lounging around in their current safe house. He was sitting in the beat up cream-colored sofa of the living-dining area. Lying on his back with a cushion on the armrest, he stared up at the ceiling, twiddling his fingers every once in a while.

'………..'

His right hand tapped the melody of the do-re-mi song.

Tap. Tap tap. Tap tap tap tap.

Tap. Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap.

Again and again and again.

After finishing one round of the song, his left hand joined in. The braided boy began humming the song in accordance to his taps.

Tap. Tap. Tap tap. Tap. Tap tap tap.tap tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap tap tap. Tap. Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap.

This was repeated until the entrance of the house, parallel to the old couch, opened with a bang. Duo jumped slightly and reached under the cushion. He withdrew a gun from under his head and rolled off the couch and, landing with one knee bent, pointed it at the intruder.

The interloper scowled at firearm directed at him. "I told Winner that this was a substandard safehouse"

The brunette relaxed and grinned at the other. "Wuffie!" He stuffed the gun back to its original location. "Nice to see ya."

The scowl deepened as the man's irritation rose. "Don't call me that, Maxwell!" He opened his mouth but hesitated. He closed it along with his eyes and counted to ten in Mandarin. The Chinese boy reopened his eyes and saw the other pilot grinning at him.

"Where's Winner?"

"Mission." His smile widened. "It's just me and you."

Wufei shuddered and thanked the gods it wasn't true. "I saw Yuy behind me. He'll be here soon."

Behind the door, a grunt was heard. "Hn."

"Speak of the devil!" Duo said. He waved to the most recent addition as his companion stepped to the right, unblocking the door.

"Yuy." He nodded in greeting.

"Hn." was the blue-eyed youth's reply. The boy closed the open door and went up the staircase. His light footfalls were heard as he ascended.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

"So, it's just you and me then." The longhaired teen mused.

The other snorted. "I'm going up as well." He quickly moved away, muttering under his breath. "There's no way I'm staying near him by myself."

The second pouted to no one and sighed as the onyx eyed lad left. He sat down heavily and heard the sofa give a soft squelch. He turned his body sideways and dropped his head into the cushion. Unfortunately for him, he forgot the existence of the metal object below.

"Owwww!"

He sat up again then rubbed his head gingerly. As the pain turned into a dull throb, Duo returned his head to its previous resting place. This was done gently as to avoid the previous incident.

He resumed staring at the ceiling.

'Where's the TV when you need it?' He thought morosely as he thought of all the other safe houses with the missing appliance.

Duo sighed. Then began twiddling his fingers as his thoughts blanked out. Again.

'………….'

Unconciously, his fingers started the rhythm of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap.

Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap.
