Hiya thanks for clicking on my fic. I plan on making it multi-chapter if enough people like it so be sure to review.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Edo or the Winry, but I envy the guy who does.
Winry walked along the stone wall, her smooth bare feet coming in contact with the grainey texture of the cement. It had been rebuilt after the river had flodded, washing most of the natural rocks away. In the mood to show off, she raised her legs particularly high while she walked. Still not catching the golden eyes of the boy along side her, she twirled around, her ponytail following close behind. Failing to get his attention she continued her little charade. Wonder what he's thinking about...
Ed sighed contentedly. It was so nice being here. The water's slow, rythmic flow, the croak of bullfrogs, the smell of fallen leaves. It was a so familiar, so comfortable. He was... Home. He thought finally, suprised he'd never realized it before. He felt like this was where he belonged... A loud splash broke his concentration. He leaned over the barrier just in time to see a glimpse of something shiny before it was engulfed in the water.
Oops Winry twirled a little too fast and leaned off balance. She tried to right herself but to no avail, and she was sent into the frigid water of the river. Thankfully, it had rained recently, so the water was high enough to break her fall without coming in contact with any of the sharp rocks at the bed. After getting over the inital shock of Jeeze, that's cold! Winry had the sense to try to swim upward. She didn't count on the current, which was too strong for her to manuver through. She went downstream a little ways before, to her relief, managing to cling to a rock.
Ed didn't really know what had driven him to jump into the freezing cold water. He had been walking by himself, right? It had probably just been a fish the rational part of his mind told him, but when he saw his childhood friend clinging to the river bed, he knew his instincts had not failed him.
Winry felt something wrap around her though she couldn't place what it was, it was extremely familliar. She felt herself being lifted out of the water into the slightly colder air. The cold, rough stone beneath her told her exactly where she was and she stumbled over the wall before resting on the grass on the other side.
Ed grabbed Winry, fighting to keep his balance against the current. He hoisted her up onto the wall before climbing out himself.
They lay there, panting in the crisp green grass opposite the wall, waiting for their breath to return.
There it is, chapter one Even if its a flame, be sure to review for me, kay?
