Here lies

Ronald Weasley

Hermione stared at the tombstone. Seeing it made it seem so…official.

I was young but I wasn't naive

Ron was dead. Harry was dead. Ginny, Mrs.Weasley, Charlie, George, Remus… all dead. Sure, Voldemort was defeated. Harry had sacrificed his life to make sure of that. But all that was left was Hermione. It felt that way.

I watched helpless as he turned around to leave

But there was one thing Hermione would regret for the rest of her life.

And still I have the pain I have to carry
A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried

She had never told him. Ever. She had never told him how she felt. And she would never get the chance. A lone tear dropped from her eye, landing on the soil of her only love's grave.

After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here
When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it
That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go

Hermione remembered the past. Sure, they had insulted each other, bickered unmercilessly…been jealous of the other's boyfriends and girlfriends, and deep inside, both knew they would love each other forever.

I would fall asleep
Only in hopes of dreaming

That everything would be like is was before

The trio had went and hunted for the horcruxes. It took effort and determination. But they did it. And then they went after Voldemort himself.

But nights like this it seems are slowly fleeting
They disappear as reality is crashing to the floor

Hermione remembered the last words Ron had said. "Hermione, I—" and then Wormtail fired the killing curse at him. Hermione shut her eyes tightly, not willing to cry. I won't cry, I won't cry, she told herself over and over again. But she was losing the battle as the tears flowed, one after the other, refusing to believe it.

After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here

She knew. She knew he was going to say that he loved her. There was no other thought in her mind. She knew he meant to say love, before his life was put to a short end.

When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it

No, Hermione thought. I must be strong—he would've wanted me to be strong.

But it hurts so much, the other voice in her head argued. And she sided with it.

Hermione put the daisies down. Ron's favorite flowers.

"I love you, Ronald." She whispered, touching the tombstone. "More than you'll ever know." With that, Hermione got up, not looking back.

That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go

After all this time
Would you ever wanna leave it
Maybe you could not believe it
That my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it
That I loved you more than you will ever know
A part of me died when I let you go
And I loved you more than you'll ever know
