Imagine that you are facing a difficult time.

Maes punched Roy in the cheek and asked him, "Do you think a taboo is so easy to commit that you just need a little binge of studying to pull it off? Or do you just want a way to die? Cause' if that's the case there are plenty of easier means." Roy stared at the floor as he said, "I had it in my mouth Maes and I couldn't pull the trigger. I was too afraid to end it."

"I'd hope so."

"That's just the kind of cowardly human that I am."

Maes looked at him with a look of compassion as Roy continued, "But still, even my life, detestable as it is will have some use." He turned to Maes with determination in his eyes.

"Maes, I've got a plan."

"Let's hear it Roy…"

Your best friend promises to be with you no matter what.

This is the one person you rely on, who has been there for you

And has been the most loyal and faithful of all your friends.

Roy and Maes were sitting in Roy's office while Roy told Maes, "I'm going to become the Fuhrer Maes. I'll transform how this whole country runs, it's the only way I can justify taking my next breath."

"To do that, you're gonna need someone who understands you and the system and supports you from the inside. I'll work under you, stay close to the higher-ups, and help push you to the top." When he finished, he just smiled at Roy.

You have spent the last three years together…

Working, studying, enjoying holidays, traveling,

And sharing countless meals and discussions.

Now, imagine that this friend completely let's you down…

Roy stood over a headstone engraved with the name: Maes Hughes. He was talking to it, saying, "Killed in action, and promoted two ranks for it, Brigadier General Hughes. You're the guy who was gonna work below me and push me to the top. The you get yourself killed and pass me in the ranks. I don't know what's more absurd, you or the State." Riza walked up to him and asked, "Are you ready?" Roy continued, "You know, years ago, I had a theory on human transmutation. After all we've seen I was actually trying to remember it now. We alchemists are such hopeless, predictable things." He asked Riza, "Why didn't he tell me Lieutenant? Ed and Al in danger, Lab five, maybe I could've done something to help."

"Maybe because he knew you'd try, sir."

Roy turned around and asked, "What's that mean?" Riza continued, "When those two boys are in harm's way, sir, well, sometimes your decisions aren't exactly rational."

"Hmm?"

"Maybe Brigadier General Hughes didn't tell you because he wanted you to concentrate on your own goal instead of the Elrics', so you could make it to the top…without anymore setbacks."

Roy turned back around and faced the grave again. He put his hat on and stuttered, "I-it's going to rain today." Riza looked up at him and replied, "Yes."

A tear ran down his cheek as he stared up at the clouds in the sky.

Did you like it? I hope so. Oh! I forgot to tell you something. The passage that I used in this, I found it in a BIBLE! Can you believe that!
