I wonder about the relationship between Iroh, Ozai and Zuko. I believe that under that laidback personality is a fierce love for his nephew. I can't imagine what it is like to see the person you loved most hurt by your own flesh and blood. Yes, Zuko is also his flesh and blood but brotherhood is a tight bond.
