After the Kiss
'Hey.'
'Hmmm?'
A mild breeze. Your hair rippling with the grass, pale silver nested among dark greens.
'You still awake?'
----------------------------
'Are you asleep'?
'No,' you say.
-----------------------------
An amused grin. 'What do you think?'
Stupid question, I know. Still, I can't help it, nor can I prevent my hand from running over your messy hair, your brows, the scar in your left eye, and down, further down to your thin lips, my hands desperate to memorize every corner of the face that very few have been privileged to see.
'What's wrong'?
'Nothing'. I smile at you, putting on my best 'everything's okay' face. You don't believe me, naturally. And I wonder again at how you became so good in reading me, my voice, my gestures, the tiniest of expressions on my face, always seeing what's underneath the underneath without a second's delay.
I snort. Stupid geniuses and their sharingans.
'What's so funny now'? you ask. And this time I smile for real, forgetting all those yesterdays, the blood, the wounds, your cold trembling body beside me in my bed. I put aside all the threats of tomorrow, focusing my eyes instead on now, with you sprawled in the grass looking at me with such fragility, such softness in your mismatched eyes. I lean forward to kiss you again.
'He he he. Getting frisky aren't we, senseiiiii..'. You turn your head to your right, after giving me your so-called 'seductive glare', and you pluck the small flower bowing gently beside your head.
'Here's a lovely flower for my most beloved...'
------------------------------------------------
Flowers in May.
Flowering at noon.
-------------------------------------------------
Another grin. I snatch the flower away from you, giving you what I hoped to be a withering glance. And your eyes soften again, your left hand reaching out to touch my cheek, fingers lingering along the scar across my nose.
----------------------------------
In the lakeside grass
Under the sun,
----------------------------------
'There's no use in worrying, Iruka'. A serious tone. And then you drag me down to lie beside you, your arms snaking around my waist to embrace me tightly.
'It's enough for us to have days like this'.
-----------------------------------------------------
'I could close my eyes
And die here,' you say.
-----------------------------------------------------
'I know,' I say.
