It niggled at him, deep in his stomach. It was worry, always there, always reminding him that one day she would leave. He couldn't stand it. Why should she leave? How could she leave? She was standing there, a curious smile hovering at her lips as she looked at him, in her ordinary jeans and a t-shirt. She was always so beautiful, her smile lit up her whole face. He sighed. So many companions had been and gone through this TARDIS, so many of his lives had passed with them but Rose was different, she was unique, like each human fingerprint. He sighed and straightened, ready for her speech. He should have told her earlier about regeneration, he knew he should have but now it was too late, she was leaving. He just knew it. As abruptly as Nyssa had left. He sighed and slipped into the memory.

Nyssa looked at the Doctor, passion burning in her eyes.
"I'm staying here, there's so much work to be done here." He blinked with surprise but conceded almost immediately. She felt the teensiest bit of annoyance in the pit of her stomach. Didn't he care that she was going? It didn't seem like it to her. Maybe he hadn't really liked her. Anyway he had Tegan now, maybe he didn't care anymore . She shook these thoughts away, but the niggling in her stomach remaining. No, she told herself. I'm staying here for the good of humanity. There is so much that I can help with. Going off with him again wouldn't do any good. I can't turn my back on this.
He turned away, the back of his head the only thing visible to her. Why did they all leave? It seemed to all happen at once, first Tegan, albeit she'd come back, and then Nyssa. Would Tegan leave again, now that Nyssa was gone? She had never really approved of Turlough, and he was still contemplating the boy. If both Turlough and Tegan left, he'd be alone again. Just him and the TARDIS. He sighed and reached out for Tegan and they turned down the corridor.
"Goodbye," Nyssa murmured and turned away, a single tear glistening in one eye.

"Where are we going now?" Her voice was bubbly and full of anticipation. He was taken aback.
"You don't want to go home?" She screwed up her nose.
"'Course not!" She smiled. "I'll be fine, this will just take a little to get used to." She looked him up and down before continuing. "You know, when you sent me home, I felt that I'd lost everything. The universe was up there, but impossible to reach, and you were dying, thousands of years in the future. I couldn't just stay there, live an ordinary life like everyone else. That's why I came back. Do you really think that after coming back I'd just want to go home again?" He straightened up and grinned. He embraced her with a smile.
"Thankyou Rose. Thankyou."

AN/ I realise that a large amount of ff writers and readers in this section are 9th/Rose orientated so I understand if you don't review, but for those that watch the old series at all or like this, please r&r! Cheers. (Those that do review get many many choccie biscuits.) Also, if you're looking for a good chapter fic, check out morph's fic Come What May. It's a brilliant fic!
