Kaneda could not believe his ears.

He clasped his cell phone tightly, shaking his head vigorously, excited.

Buchou called him! (Well, it wasn't the first time, but it had always affected him greatly).

It was buchou! The buchou that he admired so much!

And besides… buchou… buchou had just asked him out!

He placed his cell phone close to his chest, reminiscing… …

"…Oie! Kaneda! Want to go to the beach… together? I thought we could work a little on our teamwork…"

Thumpthumpthumpthump… He felt his heart beating, faster and faster.

"Does pure respect make your heart run faster?" Kaneda then wondered.

Akazawa sat on his bed, throwing his cell phone lightly on it, slapping his forehead. What had he just done? Asking his junior out… why would he want to go out with the brat that yelled at him anyway? Why would he want to waste a day with that dimwitted thing?

…What teamwork…? It was all just an excuse…

But as the captain, as a man, he will not go back on his words.

"Ano… buchou… you sure you want to do this?"

"Ya, it's not bad."

"But… I've no experience…"

"I'll teach you… I guess."

"… Hai! Buchou!"

So, there we have it, diving lessons from buchou.

Unlike his usual self, Akazawa found himself patient this time, there was occasional scolding because Kaneda was that stupid, that brainless, that slow… and yet that cute.

Kaneda laughed embarrassedly in the waters, placing his hand on the back of his head, bowing repeatedly, apologizing for his mistakes. Akazawa-buchou is so smart and cool! That was what he thought.

After about a day's of coaching, it was soon near evening, and Kaneda finally got the hang of it.

Akazawa then led them to deeper ends of the ocean, "Okay, Kaneda, you first then."

The younger boy gave a wide grin before holding his breath. He clapped both hands together, getting ready.

One…

Two…

Three…

And…! Splash!

…Ouch!

Akazawa leapt forward.

The younger boy was using one hand to try to keep himself afloat while using his other hand to cover the wound on his head, as though smoothing it, telling it to stop hurting.

The older boy closed his eyes for a moment and sighed.

Kaneda's eyes filled with apology as he looked helplessly at his captain.

Without saying a word, the dark-skinned captain dragged Kaneda to the shores and onto the recliners by the beach, laying him down.

He grabbed hold of a bottle of antiseptic cream, and squeezed out some of its contents onto two fingers, and then dabbed it cautiously on Kaneda's forehead.

"Buchou! You don't need to…!" Kaneda immediately sat back up, protesting. Buchou was so nice to have taught him diving, but yet he created so much trouble for buchou.

"It's okay, I'm a very kind and gentle person anyway," Akazawa gave a little chuckle as he pushed the other boy back lightly, and slowly put a bandage on his wound.

Kaneda was touched, very touched. His gaze softened on his buchou. Was this just admiration?

Buchou's eyes looked worried and concerned.

"Buchou," he called out softly.

Akazawa just looked into Kaneda's eyes curiously…

"I like you."

"…" No words.

A faint pink then spread across those dark cheeks, "Uh."

"Okay." The older boy looked away, embarrassed.

Kaneda then smiled faintly to himself.

It was not admiration, or respect. It was love.
