ALL ALONE AGAIN

Songfic: Right where it belongs – Ninne Inch Nails

Disclaimer: I don't own the song. In fact, I don't own anything except my mind. And sometimes I'm not even sure of that.

See the animal in his cage that you built?
Are you sure what side you're on?
Better not look him too closely in the eye...
Are you sure what side of the glass you're on?

She opens the door to her bedroom and sees, as everyday, her two only and true friends.

There's Travis, about 6,4', short black hair, green eyes, his bottomlip pierced three times, once in the middle and on bothes sides.

And Angel, the same hight as her, long blond hair with light-blue streaks, blue-grey eyes and no piercings but one tatoo of angelwings on her back.

See the safety of the life you have built?
Everything where it belongs...
Feel the hollowness inside of your heart
And it's all right where it belongs...

She smiles at them, her only and true friends. She turns on some music, sits with them on her bed and tales with them about her day. They always listen to her and understand her. They're always there for her.

As everyday she sits with them on her bed and talks with them about everything and anything. Just beign with them is all she needs to be happy.

Outside her room, away from her friends there is no happyness there's only pain. Her father beats her constantly, school where she get bullied and insulted by everyone, always looking at her as if she was dirt, scum. Maybe she is. But that doesn't matter in her room, on her bed with her only and true friends.

She lookes at them. They always smile at her, always happy to see her like no one else is ever.

What if everything around you isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
What if you could look right through the crack?
Would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

Suddendly a voice in her head tells her:

"They're not real"

What if all the world's inside of your head?
Just creations of your own...
Your devils and your gods and the living and the dead
And you really are alone
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find words
Are you hiding in the trees?

No, that can't be. Not her only friends. She looks at them again with tears in her eyes. They're not smiling anymore. Her room starts to shake. Or is it just her shaking? She doesn't know. She knows nothing anymore.

Her world slowly starts to shatter into a million pieces. She sees blood starting to ooze out of the walls of her room.

The only friends she has slowly vanish.

What if everything around you isn't quite as it seems?

She has nothing left. She's all alone again.

She stares at the place her friends had sat, now gone forever. Tears pouring from her eyes drenching her ripped and dirty shirt.

What if all the world you used to know is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

Her father comes into the room. He hits her across the face and screames in her face, the smell of vodka and beer making her wrinkle her nose in disgust. He pinnes her down on her bed with one hand. Unzipping his pants with the other.

She's all alone again. Her world shattered.

Nowhere to hide anymore. Never happy again.
