Eggman watched the floating debris from his Egg Orbiter. The remains of the Black Comet were still as ominous as when the giant horror had been whole.
A small blip on the scanners told him he was coming close to the Ark. Shadow still hadn't returned after the defeat of the Black Arms. Sonic and the rest of his friends believed Shadow was aboard the Ark, defending what was left of his memories of Ivo's cousin Maria and his grandfather Gerald.
Fools, Eggman thought to himself. Why they still cared about that loner of a hedgehog was still beyond him. He had given up on Shadow the day he had betrayed the Eggman Empire. Eggman was here for a different purpose.
Suddenly three small blips appeared on Eggman's scanners. They were far smaller than the Ark. They were about the size of small escape pods.
Eggman approached the objects the scanners had detected as carefully as he could. It was rather difficult to navigate the debris from the comet; the comet had left quite a few near indestructible chunks near its point of destruction.
As soon as he managed to clear the final and largest of the pieces, he discovered at last what he had come back out to space for.
In the center of what could be considered the comet's ground zero, there were three black crystal pods. Each seemed to hold a small dark figure about three feet tall. Two resembled beings similar to those found on Mobius, but the other seemed to have no shape at all, as if it were made of liquid.
Eggman scanned the liquid shape. Further analysis showed a similarity of the creature to that of Chaos.
Interesting, it seems the Black Arms were carrying more than an invasion force when they came here.
Eggman quickly went about preparing his small ship to take the three crystal capsules on-board. He took each one at a time, first the two recognizable creatures, and then the liquid creature.
"Open the first capsule," Eggman ordered to his minions, "I want to know what is inside it before we get back to the surface.
The robots quickly got working while Eggman returned to the bridge of his spacecraft. He had finally found Black Doom's great treasure.
His musing's were cut short by a large explosion in the ship's lab and all power to the bridge was cut. Immediately the emergency systems cut in and bathed the cramped space in a seeming blood mist.
The Egg Robots at the controls worked frantically to return the bridge power, but Eggman had a dreadful feeling that it was pointless.
Another smaller explosion sounded in another section of the spacecraft, this time closer to the bridge. After some brief radio chatter all systems aboard the bridge, saving life support and emergency lighting, suddenly cut off. Even the robots had gone offline.
A whooshing sound just behind Eggman noted the entrance of someone onto the bridge. The Doctor was stiff in his chair, afraid of what he had just released onto his ship. He sat silently for a few more seconds, and then several clanging footsteps signified the being onboard with him had approached his backside.
A moment longer, Eggman began sweating heavily aboard the humid bridge. What had he done? Had he brought about his own doom?
Then a sharp pain along the back of Eggman's head, and a following infinite darknessā¦
