Author's Note: Just something I typed two minutes ago because I was bored. Testing out the Ace x Robin pairing. P Just some random drabble. Oh, and the title doesn't seem to have anything to do with the fic. Not much anyway.
There was a soft thump and she looked up. Scanning the velvet sky, she carefully admired the faint sparkle of star strewn across the absorbing space. With a faint smile, she lowered her head again, and bent over her book. She balanced a lit lamp by the side, an extra arm growing from the side of the crow's nest in which she sat, holding up the lamp so that she could read. The ship had docked at a small deserted island earlier that evening, and the navigator had estimated that it would only take a couple of hours for the Log Post to set. Seeing as how it was already late, the navigator had ordered the ship anchored for the night before heading onward in the morning. Absent-mindedly brushing her raven hair from her eyes, she let the gentle bump of waves against the ship lull her into a comfortable mood. She had offered to be stationed at the crows' nest that day, as the captain and everyone else had spent the remainder of the day exploring excitedly, draining their energy efficiently. After an enormous dinner, as usual, the crew had stumbled to the cabins sleepily. Hearing nothing from them for a good four hours, she assumed that everyone was asleep by now. Shifting, she rubbed her arms as the chill of the night prickled across her skin. Goosebumps danced on the surface of her skin and she shivered.
Another soft thump that sounded louder than the usual hum of waves interrupted her reading once again. She didn't bother to look up as a faint warm breeze ruffled the edges of the pages. There rarely were warm breezes in an area of the sea such as this after all. Someone settled beside her, and the flame in her lamp flickered and vanished. It was completely dark momentarily, before another brighter source of light blazed up beside her. "Better?" a voice asked from within the ball of red and orange light. She let her lips curve into a slight smile as she nodded. It was warmer now.
