First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye gritted her teeth in annoyance. Jean was doing it again. How annoying.

Did he think she wouldn't notice? Riza scoffed at the thought.

Jean Havoc was enjoying his cigarette for the day. Sure he had promised Riza he wouldn't…but what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. She needed to use the restroom and Jean knew he had plenty of time.

After all, woman always took forever when in the washrooms. At least all the girls he had dated had. The Colonel had agreed still Riza wasn't exactly the most feminine girl on the block. Alphonse had pointed out that Edward took just as long as any girl in the washroom and he wasn't female. The Colonel had sniggered at the comment too, Ed always protested being called a girl.

Jean blinked in shock when the cigarette was taken from his mouth. He didn't even try to grab the cigarette back. He turned and saw Riza and she didn't look too happy.

Oh crap.

"I thought we agreed that you were going to quit," she said mildly putting the cigarette out with her boot.

Jean looked at the cigarette. It had been a good one too. "Quit? Who said anything about quitting?" Jean asked innocently.

"You did last night," Riza said glaring at the second lieutenant.

Jean winced at the tone of her voice. Just wonderful.

"It's bad for your health, do you want black lungs?" Riza asked with her arms crossed.

Jean scoffed. "You can't get black lungs from smoking! They just tell you that to scare you off cigarettes."

Riza didn't look convinced, not at all. "Well if you're going to keep those foul sticks, then I'm going home."

"Home?" Jean said perplexed. "I thought we had a date tonight?"

"Not any more," Riza said coldly.

Jean just stood there in bewildered as Riza walked away to her car and drove home.

Well crap.

Jean walked to his car and drove over to where Riza was. He made a pit stop at the florist and picked up some flowers. After all, nothing said sorry like flowers.

Havoc drove up to her house and knocked on the door, Black Hayate came to the door barking happily and wagging his tail. Well at least someone was happy to see him.

"Hayate is something at the door?" a voice called from the kitchen.

Jean gulped and played with the vibrant bouquet of flowers in his hand. Riza walked towards the door and Jean gave her a nervous smile.

"Hello Jean," Riza said calmly.

Jean often wondered how Riza could talk so calmly in any situation. It must have been one of the many gifts the woman possessed. "Can I come in?"

"Where are your cigarettes?" Riza asked.

Jean patted his pockets. "In the car?"

Riza let a tiny smile creep onto her lips. "Well why don't you come on in then?"

Riza opened the door and Jean walked into her house. "I got you some flowers."

Riza accepted the offered flowers. "Their lovely, Jean."

"I figured that all the girls in the office got one color, so if you have all the colors of the rainbow. You could be the prettiest girl at the office. Not that you aren't," Jean said stumbling over the words.

Riza smiled at Jean and tried not to laugh at him. "The flowers are beautiful." She leaned forward to kiss him.

Heck this was better than smoking any day.
