Back in the village, Zelda was sitting next to her sister, Lizzi, looking at the portrait of Fire Lord Zuko. They were still used to calling him "Prince" Zuko, and it was hard for them to make the change.
While lost in their thoughts, one of the village messengers had come to deliver important news. "Avatar April is coming to our village to pick up Sir Zane and choose someone to train with her and the Fire Lord! Be prepared young ladies. She might even choose one of you!" He pointed at the sisters and left, gleefully skipping to the next batch of people he saw.
"Avatar April?" Lizzi asked Zelda. "I thought the only two Avatars were Airbenders."
Zelda replied, "Liz, April is a friend of Avatars Alyssa and Aang. She was originally a Firebender, like us, but when she found out she was an Avatar… I don't really know what happened after that except that she married Zuko." Nearing the end of her sentence, her tone was growing louder, with a bit of a jealous air. "But, who needs Zuko anyway? I wanna marry someone out of our nation." As soon as Zelda finished her sentence, Zane appeared.
"I got my burn treated, and they said I was lucky I came at that time. I would have been scarred for life," Zane said. He detected the sorrow in Zelda's eyes and said, "It's okay Zelda. I know you want to practice firebending, and I should have been ready. Besides, I'm the one who is going to become the most wanted person in the world for destroying everything. I just hope my record DOESN'T end up like Zhao's!" he said jokingly. "I'm going to bed now," he said. Then he directed his attention to Zelda. "I'll see you bright and early in the morning. I'm gonna make sure you're the one that April chooses."
