To Save One Person
I lay in my bed as I drift off to sleep. My last thoughts of the day were floating through my head.
'If all my teammates were in danger and I could only save one, who would I save?'
My dream started in darkness. Pure blackness. I thought maybe I wasn't dreaming. But then, one by one, all the people that I knew and cared for appeared. All my friends, all of the beybladers I knew, my relatives, even my bitbeast, Dranzer. Finally they stopped. They stood in a circle around me.
Then one more appeared. It was Rei, the only one on my team who I actually like. I like his more than the other. A lot more, but I don't always realize it. The others were always making me mad. Everything has to go Tyson's way. He really bugs me.
All of a sudden, a great pain over came the circle and me. It felt as though we were all dying. A loud voice boomed through the darkness. It laughed an evil laugh.
"You must choose, Kai." A small vile appeared in my hand. A lime green liquid filled it. Only enough for one swallow. "You must choose," the voice said again. "Only one in here will live. The vile will save one. If you choose yourself, then all others will die. Choose someone else, and you and everyone else will die. Choose wisely." I could hear the moans of all people. Their lives were in my hands.
Without hesitation, I ran to Rei.
"Rei, Rei, drink this. It'll make you better!" I poured it down Rei's throat. I wrapped my arms around him in a loving hug and smiled. "Rei, you live on always."
Rei stood up, cured. All the people began to disappear with a scream of agony in to the darkness. Rei smiled at me and I screamed in pain while my heart melted from his smile. Then there was darkness. I was dead. At least Rei was alive…
My eyes flew open in remembrance of the dream that just ended. I walked out of my room and in to the room across the hall. I silently climbed the steps of Rei's bunk bed. His sheets moved up and down with the rhythm of is breathing. Good, he was still alive.
As I began to walk back across the hall and to my own room, I began to think.
'Well, at least I know who I would save.'
