This, is Drivel. With a capital D. DRIVEL I TELL YOU. But amusing. Oh yes. Definitely amusing. This is what happens when you leave yourself only ten minutes to write a poem in Writing class, and while looking for inspiration you glance over at the cover of something… a cover with an oh-so-marvelous bishie… yeah… This was actually inspired by a Banana Fish bishie, but partway through it became more of a conglomerate of All bishies, with the Saiyuki boys the most prominent. Plus, I'm known in the Saiyuki fandom. At least a little. Not much. But a little. It's easier than breaking into another fandom anyway. For the Japanese impaired: Bishounen (bishie) equals pretty boy. For example, Sanzo is a bishie. A very marvelous bishie. Anyways, warning: sop ahead. I made it as soppy as possible, 'cause I couldn't take the assignment seriously. And I didn't have to hand it in or read it out loud anyway. Anyways, any of you read Mercedes Lackey's stuff? You know that reoccurring song called "My Lady's Eyes"? That was partial inspiration. Total-word-count-including-title-but-excluding-author's-notes: 152. Go me. Anyways, read and review and for the love of God DON'T take this seriously. It's DRIVEL. We clear on that? Good.
Ode to the Bishounen
Oh, the Bishounen, what every Fangirl dreams of,
Who wouldn't want to be held in thine own embrace?
He of the slender build and awesome strength?
Any girl would be lucky for a single taste of thy lips,
To run her hands through the silky strands of thy hair,
To gaze deeply into the shining orbs that are thine eyes...
...Why would she be so lucky?
Well... it seems the Fangirl has this habit...
A habit which tends to leave no Bishounen for anybody...
Oh, here are two Bishounen now! See the happy duo?
... And the downfall of the Fangirl is that she is first and foremost
Matchmaker.
And so we have the Bishounen, to be admired but never touched,
To be pursued with little success, and, most of all,
To be the subject of incredibly soppy poetry.
So All Hail the Bishounen! (And damnit Fangirl WHY?)
Author's Notes (Again):
The orb thingy is a tribute to the almighty KarotsaMused's "The Breakroom". Every new Saiyuki fan-author should read it. : )
Oh, and this isn't any of the one-shots I was rambling about in my profile. I was just assigned it today, and though it isn't technically fanfiction, it takes a fangirl to truly appreciate it. So here it is.
