This is a plotbunny that just wouldn't go away. Inspired by a conversation I had on a forum about the similarities between Legal Drug and XXXHOLiC. Completely pointless.
Breaking the Fourth Wall (Just Because)
Kazahaya leaned forward, chin leaning on his arm thoughtfully. "You know, Watanuki, we have a lot of similiarities in our lives."
Watanuki considered this for a moment. "Yes, I see what you mean, Kazahaya. We both currently have no family, since both my parents are dead."
"And God only knows what Clamp has decided to do with my parents, since I and my twin sister grew up alone and I was eventually mysteriously forced to leave her, breaking my promise to stay with her forever. Though perhaps I beat you on the family aspect, since I do have a sister, even if she basically wants to marry me."
Watanuki stared for a moment. "…I can't describe how completely wrong that it is."
"Yes. I know." Kazahaya shivered.
"You definitely win there. But we both have supernatural powers that wreak havoc on our lives."
"And we both have extremely annoying co-workers that, if Clamp, the fans, our bosses, and the gay rights lobby have their way, we'll end up married to."
"And we both have extremely creepy, manipulative bosses who have no reservations about working us to the bone while messing with our lives."
"Who also send us on missions with little to no real explanation of what will actually happen."
"Missions that could very easily get us killed, resulting in our future husbands always needing to come along to help us."
"But at least your future husband isn't constantly hitting on you and making jokes about how good you look crossdressing."
"You don't have to deal with two soulless dolls named Streaking and Flashing."
"You don't have to deal with your boss's lover, who also molests and hits on you and generally acts creepy."
"You don't have to deal with a drunk Yûko."
"You have seven tankoubon, and Clamp is still actively writing you. We have three volumes. Three. And there is no indication of when Clamp will write more, or even if they ever actually will. You have a movie. And an anime series coming out in April."
"… Point taken."
They sat in silence for a few moments, before Watanuki broke it.
"Well, at least neither of our lives sucks as much as Subaru's."
"… That's not comforting. At all."
"… Point taken."
