The Drunk

Silver looked out upon his men. Some were fighting, one was singing, and everyone had a fair amount of rum in his hands. This was the way of pirates though, so Silver let it go on. He walked out through the party of brawling drunken shipmates, none of which dared to challenge him to a fight, as filled with rum as they were.

"Fifteen men on a dead man's chest-

yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"

The singer changed his song, and by the end of the first verse, the whole crew had stopped doing what they were and joined in to the chorus.

"Drink and the devil had done for the rest-

Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"

The song went on without much happening, except for a few fights. Silver looked at his company, now they seemed to become almost completely unbarbaric at a song. But the second it was over, they sprang into fights and more drinking. There was no change among pirates.

Silver continued heaving a heavy sigh, sometimes leading crews of undisciplined scallywags wasn't what it first was. They still had not found the treasure, and they would all get restless eventually and blame Silver for all that happened.

Silver stopped as a crewman lumbered up to him in a brown coat and red cap. Rather than deal with killing the scoundrel, Silver just punched the poor soul out. The crewman landed on the sand and another member quickly snatched the rum in his hands. Silver continued walking, he had little crew as it was to face the captain and his men.

The singer, an old crewmate in a tattered black vest and baggy brown pants struck up the song again. He liked it better when the crew was singing than drinking and fighting. And the drinking, uncaring crew started chorus again.

"Fifteen men on a dead man's chest-

Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Drink and the devil had done for the rest-

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

Yahar, sometimes pirating be a hard life. But the point of the story is to know who ye be captain of afore ye captain them. Sail away on fair seas, and strike up the chorus-

"Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
