Story Notes: Okay, there are a few things we should cover before I even begin to attempt this. 1. I know there's already a YGO version of RENT up, but, let's face it, it's...not that great, but not for lack of trying. 2. The only thing I'm change is the name of the characters, but I'm not changing things within the song, otherwise they sound way weird. So, even though Mai is playing Maureen Johnson, the song is still going to go Tango Maureen, not Tango Mai. You now see why things are staying the same. Now that that's out of the way, one with the musical!
Chapter Notes: Ishizu (Joanne) sings things that are italicized when combined with when everyone else is singing with her I'm going to try and write this like it's sung, so there's going to be cross over between lines. When everyone is singing, it's just going to be normal print, but the two will be put in the same paragraph at times.
Chapter One: Seasons of Love
The piano slowly started playing the interlude, hilling the large concert hall with the delicate sounds of music as the lights slowly came one, casting a glow on the eight people on stage. From left to right stood Yami, Ryou, Ishizu, Bakura, Marik, Mai, Seto, and Malik. Members kept count to themselves, waiting for when they were to open their mouths, vocalize the music.
"Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear. Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, measure a year?" They all sang at once. "In daylight, in sunsets, in midnights. In cups of coffee. In inches, in miles in laughter, in strife. In Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, a year in the life? How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of love. Seasons of love."
Ishizu, third from the left, smiled as everyone dropped back and she sang. "Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes! Five hundred twenty five thousand journeys to plan. Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?" she sang, her voice carrying, echoing off white walls.
Two down to her right from here, Marik picked up, deep, soothing voice leaving his lips. "In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried. In bridges he burned, or the way that she died!" he belted out, arms swaying at his side.
When the blonde finished, all of them picked up the song again, singing in harmony, accenting each other. "It's time now to sing out, tho' the story never ends. Let's celebrate, remember a year in the life of friends."
Ishizu broke away from them, singing her own solo as the rest of them continued. "Remember the love! Oh you got to got to remember the love! Remember the love! You know that love is a gift from above! Measure the love. Share love, give love, spread love. Seasons of love! Measure, measure your life in love! Seasons of love." They finished together, and the lights died, the concert hall going black.
Yeah, I know it's short, but that's okay! Next chapter will be long, I promise. Leave me reviews! I like reviews!
