Suddenly, Mad-Eye had a Bright Idea. He popped his magical glass Eye out of its socket and set it on the battlement. It spun around, continuing to watch for danger. Mad-Eye opened the trap door and climbed down into the Astronomy classroom below, moving awkwardly on his wooden leg, slightly disoriented by the fact that he had to watch where he was going with one eye, while he kept lookout with the other. He pulled a comfortable chair up to the fireplace, poured himself a cup of hot tea from his flask, and relaxed. "This is better," he thought, "much better", as he continued to watch for Lord Voldemort through his magical Eye, which was still out there in the cold and the snow.
Two hours later, Nymphadora Tonks climbed the stairway of the Astronomy Tower. It was her turn to relieve Mad-Eye Moody on guard duty. She was aghast when she saw Mad-Eye drinking tea by the fireplace. "Mad-Eye, what do you think you're doing. You're not supposed to be in here. You're supposed to be on top of the tower, watching for He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."
"Don't go getting all excited, 'Dora. There's nothing to worry about. I'm keeping an Eye out for him."
