Hermione was sitting in the Great Hall, waiting for Harry and Ron...Hoping that Ron wouldn't bring Lavender over to sit with them today.

She'd had about enough of listening to the air-head talk, And her and Ron's disgusting displays of affection. Her and Harry both were about fed up with him always ditching them for HER.

And Hermione was jealous...SHE was the one he was supposed to be with...Not Lavender. Harry had always told her about how Ron would try to disguise the fact that he liked her. But now he had "Lav-Lav" Hearing the two of them in the common room was almost sickening. And then always catching them in broom closets when on patrol...by her self...Ron was supposed to go on the rounds with her, but he always ran off to be with her...

Looking over at Harry, she saw that Ron and Lavender were, indeed, making a bee-line for their table. Harry gave her a sympathetic look before turning around and try to talk to Ron before he and Lavender began their normal lunch hour snog. Hermione chose to pass the lunch hour by writing in her journal. Sometimes she let Harry read them. Sometimes she didn't. This time she would, because he would be able to help her with this.

And she wrote...

Why can't you see

How much this is hurting me?

Seeing you with her

When I know it should be me in your arms...

Hearing her laugh at all your corny jokes,

When I know she's just doing it to get back at me...

She doesn't like you like I do...

She's just using you, your just a toy to her.

She has you so whipped

I would never try to do that...I'd rather you have fun and not be around me than to force you to be with me all the time and be unhappy.

I guess you will never see

How much you mean to me

You're with her

I'm invisible

I guess it's time for me to move on

I hope you have fun, being her little pawn

Is this was Chess...This would be the Checkmate

I give up, you will never be mine, you're too wrapped up in her.

Have fun with her...

When she leaves you for her next flavor of the week

Don't come crying to me

You had your chance

It's time for me to let him have his chance

Maybe I'll love him more than I loved you...

You'll never know how it would feel to have me in your arms.

Now he is mine, I'll cherish him because he loves me.

And I love him.

Later that night...Hermione cornered Harry and showed him what she had written. As he was reading it she was getting more and more nervous. After he was done reading it, he turned to look at her.

"Is that true?" He asked.

Not trusting herself to talk, she nodded her head.

Harry stood up and hugged her, then leaned down and softly kissed her.

"Are you sure you want this?" He wanted to be sure she was totally for it.

"Yes." Hermione softly whispered.

"Ok...So do you want to go out with me 'Mione?"

"Yes, Yes I do Harry."

They sat next to each other on the couch, holding onto one another. And they fell asleep like that. When Ron came downstairs the next morning and found them, He was furious.

"Hermione! How could you? I thought you liked me...Not Harry"

"You seemed to have moved on...So have I." And with that Hermione walked up to the girls dormitory and got ready for the day ahead.

It had been over 4 months since Hermione and Harry got together. Ron and Lavender lasted only 2 more weeks before she dumped him for Draco Malfoy. Ron had quite a few on and off girlfriends, But nothing like what Harry and Hermione had. He had lost his chance...Harry was now what he wanted to be.
