Shattered
Chapter 1: childhood
"Inuyasha! You can't hide in the trees it's not fair!" whined a little girl with long silky black hair and soft emerald green eyes standing near a group of large trees. A young boy with silver hair, and golden eyes, jumped down from a near by tree.
"But we're playing hide and seek Kags, the point is to HIDE where the seeker CAN'T find you!" the boy teased his best friend Kagome. Suddenly she leapt towards him pinning him to the ground.
After a few minutes of the extreme torture of getting his ears pet, Kagome proclaimed joyously, "Now we're even!" making both children burst out laughing. They were about to restart their game of hide and seek when they saw the tall figure of Inuyasha's older brother approaching. (A.N. Sesshoumaru (sp?) is Inuyasha's guardian because his parents died when he was 1)
Unfortunately he came bearing the worst news a child could hear. Kagome's beloved parents and younger brother had been in a car accident on their way to pick her up from Inuyasha's, no one survived. Kagome's mind flooded with images of her dear parents and baby brother. Silent tears streamed from her brilliant green eyes as she shook her head in disbelief, wanting so much for this tragedy to have just been a sick joke.
Seeing his friend's tears Inuyasha instinctively pulled Kagome into a hug, whispering soothing words to her. He sat with her for hours letting her cry on his shoulder, and when she finally fell asleep he carried her to bed and sat with her through the night.
The next morning Kagome's parent's lawyer showed up at Sesshoumaru's and Inuyasha's home looking for their clients' daughter. As stated by her parent's will she was to be sent to live with her Uncle Naraku in Kyoto. Scared to leave home and best friend she begged to stay in Tokyo. Unfortunately the lawyer denied Sesshoumaru's offer to adopt her.
Three days later the funeral for Kagome's family was held. She stood silently holding Inuyasha's hand for comfort as she watched her family's coffins lowered into the freshly dug graves. After the funeral her Uncle approached her to let her know it was time to go, she nodded and ran to say goodbye to Inuyasha.
