In under 10 seconds, Jane realized that she had said something wrong. She quickly sat back down on the picnic spread, smiling a tad more nervously than before.
In under 10 seconds, Bran realized his face felt warm. Very, very warm. He turned his head away in a futile attempt to compose himself.
In under 10 seconds, Simon realized that something was happening. He shifted his gaze from Jane to Bran and decided that he did not like it one bit.
In under 10 seconds, Barney realized that he had run out of muffins. He reached over to Simon's plate and silently thanked Jane for the quick distraction.
In under 10 seconds, the tension that had seeped into the air had grown so intense that it could've been tangible. It was dispelled by a single sigh from Will, whose carefully neutral face held a hint of amusement.
'Things are going to get pretty interesting around here,' he thought.
