I see you sleep and I whisper to myself that I love you though you would never hear. You never could hear these things and I wouldn't want you to, yet a part of me wanted you to hear it. You have eyes and ear everywhere but never when you sleep. Never when I watch you sleep.
I see you sleep and I whisper to myself that I love you though you are oblivious to the world around you. You're tired after the game we had and how many times you've been tackled and passed the ball and ordered everyone what to do and where to go. And now I see you sleep.
There is no one around to see you this way. Everyone had gone out, and I remained, watching you as you sleep though I know you hadn't meant others to see you this way. You never liked it when people saw you the way you are now.
You are our leader, and we follow you for different reasons of our own. Though my reason may not be like what you originally thought it was.
I wonder… had you noticed?
You couldn't have. My mask is perfect, my feelings hidden behind the name "Eyeshield 21"- the name you gave—and that innocent child-like face I always wear. Even your devilish grin and your glares could never penetrate.
I see you sleep and I whisper to myself I love you near your ear, the warmth of your face, only centimeters away.
And I yearn for that warmth.
But I turn away. I am a coward for not telling you, this is the only cowardice left in me. I cannot tell you.
