Darkness. Gun-fire. He was surrounded by both. All he could do was sit there and wait for some idiot to pass by. Some idiot to walk by his hiding place. He sat there, Falcons in his hands, waiting for some idiot to pass by. His breathing was coming slow and deep. He knew that if he breathed heavily like he wanted to they would find him and run towards him, guns blazing. AR34 bullets hurt. That was what they had, AR34s. All he had were two Falcons and a single Combat Knife. His legs tingled. He had to shoot someone. He could hear the blood pump through his veins. Maybe they could, too. Maybe they could hear every thought he had. Maybe that's why they weren't coming. Maybe that's why they weren't coming anywhere near his little alcove. They may be simulants, but they were smart ones. They probably heard him, they probably…he froze. He heard footsteps. He gripped the guns and placed his fingers on the triggers. He had been holding the guns up this entire time and he slowly lowered them. He knew it was the end for this particular simulant. The footsteps slowed. They were sneaking. He smiled. This was too easy. Too easy. He leapt and fired his guns in the direction of the footsteps. The sound of the bullets escaping the barrels echoed through the room. He stood panting and shut his eyes. Sweat poured down his face. Too easy. Too easy.

"Simulation ended" echoed through the VR Room and Jack turned to see his mother standing right in front of him. She was smiling and he smiled back. "Hey, mom." "Jack." She motioned for him to follow her and he did. They went into the monitor room and Joanna flipped on the biggest monitor and immediately freeze-framed it. She pointed to the angle-changer dial on the control panel. He turned the little ball until he saw what she wanted to show to him. A simulant was standing right behind him, a DY357 pointed at the back of his head. Jack sighed, "Too easy."
