The Inc.
A Gorillaz fic by Peeders
2D stared out of the window of the Inc. As he always did. He never slept, he never ate. He was slowly dieing, locked away in a place where people party night and day. But he wasn't happy here, not like the rest. He wanted to escape. He wanted to find the windmill and fly away to the most beautiful place in the world. But they wouldn't let him. They thought that the people would get… contaminated… if they went into the Unknown. The Unknown that he himself had once lived in. The place he would never go back to, no matter how hard he tried. He was planning to kill himself in a few days, to end the suffering. It was pointless to try to move on.
Until one day…
"Hey, Joe, that blue haired one wants to go into the Unknown really bad," one of the guards said to his buddy.
"Yeah, I know, Billie. What do you say we let one go, just this once?" Joe replied.
"All right. We always throw the ones like him out there anyway, right?"
"Yeah."
They found 2D at his usual spot by the window. "Hey, you. Tusspot," they said. He turned around for the first time in days. "Wot?" he said so quietly that he was almost whispering. His face was tear-stained and there were dark circles under his eyes. He was obviously starving to death, because you could see every bone in his body. "Come t'take m'to jail?" he asked. "Come on," Billie said, grabbing his arm. 2D quickly grabbed his pill bottle that was on the windowsill and followed. They led him down stairs, to the only exit of the Inc., and pushed him out.
"Good luck dieing, it's dangerous out there," Joe said.
"You mean…"
Billie nodded. "Go on, Tusspot." They shut the door in his face. 2D walked non-stop for what seemed like days, and finally came to his destination: the Windmill. "Take me to where I belong," he whispered. He began singing Feel Good Inc. as the windmill and its island lifted him into the air.
Windmill, windmill, for the land,
Learn forever, hand in hand.
Take it all in on your stride.
It is sticking, falling down.
Love forever, love is freedom,
Time forever, you and me.
Windmill, windmill, for the land,
Everybody in.
The End
