Summary: Remus/Tonks. A very brief glimpse into the not-so-distant future, as I imagine it.

I'm brand new here at and this is the first piece of fanfic I've EVER written... (Born largely from procrastination from more important things. Posting your first piece is a strange feeling - like stepping outside naked)

Happy to be here!Look forward to meeting people who share my interests, reading and discussing each other's work etc. If you choose to stop by and read, comments/criticism are most welcome. Hope to hear from you. See you around the board.

Disclaimer: I don't own JK's characters. (Apologies for the lack of originality/wit. I just don't.)

Author's Note: If you have it, read this short fic to the beautiful song "Run Away With Me" by Michael Arden. "Kissing You" by Des'Ree is also suitable :)

What The Future Holds

His breathing shallow, he extends his hand to her. She takes it.

Her vivid pink hair glows as the bright sunlight bounces off it in rays. Today, unlike her usual style, it is in loose, pretty ringlets with some pinned up and several strands framing her pale heart-shaped face.

His suit is brand new - no patches. This morning he shaved, and cut his shaggy hair. He barely recognised himself when he looked in the mirror.

Throwing her head back, she laughs, making her curls bounce happily as she spins across the floor into his arms. He places a hand on her waist, admiring how brilliantly white her gown is, fluttering in the outdoor breeze. She brings her forehead to his and whispers, "We did it".

He smiles, grins, an action he is now accustomed to, and lightly brushes a strand of pink away from her dark eyes. They are twinkling with unspoken mischief and promise, matching the twinkle of the simple, square-cut diamond on the fourth finger of her left hand.

Sliding it around his neck, she pulls herself as close to his thin body as she can. He tilts his head to whisper in her ear, catching her gentle aroma of vanilla and strawberries. Parting and moistening his chapped lips, he whispers lightly, "May I have our first dance, Mrs Lupin?"

Their friends clap and cheer as they begin to glide across the dancefloor, stopping only once for Tonks to untangle the pointy heel of her right shoe from the underside of her wedding dress.
