Title: Juxtaposition
Fandom: Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
Pairing: Kurogane/Fai
Rating: PG. Might be more. I dunno, I suck at this rating thing.
Word Count: 396
Summary/Description: Kurogane and Fai have many differences. But in the end, none of them matter.
Warning/Spoilers: Shounen-ai. No spoilers, I should think.
A/N: It's a little weird; you have to read a little deep into it for it to make sense.
Dedication: To Michiru Kaiou-san, for her tremendous help in getting the TRC manga. I'm probably beginning to sound like a broken record, but thank you, my dear!
Disclaimer: Me not having four personalities there being no chance of me being CLAMP me not owning TRC.
Fai is a magician.
He is a conjurer of spells and mysticism, binding and weaving together the elements at will to create charms that defy all human laws. For him, there are no boundaries or impossibilities; the fathomable and unfathomable meld together into an indiscernible mass that he can twist and manipulate as he sees fit. Magic and enchantment are his trade; his world is one shrouded in mystery, full of secrets that cannot be brought to light in the world of the ordinary man.
Fai is a magician, but even if he still had his powers, he could not make his pain disappear.
Kurogane is a warrior.
He is immeasurably skilled in the age-old art of fighting, his fierce technique, bloody finesse and years of experience making him a veteran. He has determination for miles, and courage as boundless as the skies. Combat is what he does, it is an instinct so deeply ingrained in him that it has become innate, and he cannot tell it apart from the other facets of him. War is his trade; he knows its technicalities, intricacies, and politics almost as well as he knows his way around the battlefield.
Kurogane is a warrior, but even if he still had the Silver Dragon, he could not fight his demons for him.
Kurogane and Fai are different.
Fai is a blond, and extraordinarily pretty; Kurogane is a brunet, and darkly handsome. Fai is carefree and mysterious; Kurogane is grumpy and painstakingly straightforward. Fai hides behind his sunny smiles; Kurogane doesn't make a habit out of hiding at all. Fai redefines the art of smiling; his is one that can truly light up a room, lend its radiance. Kurogane is an expert at scowling; he has perfected the practice down to the furrowing of his brows and the creasing of his lips. Kurogane is all about the physical; Fai is more of a mellow, spiritual person. Fai is running away from home; Kurogane wants nothing more than to return home.
Kurogane and Fai are different, but when they are together like this, in juxtaposition, blending into one, legs intertwining and breaths intermingling; safe and warm in each other's arms, nothing matters. Here, tangled up in the sheets, holding each other close, Fai can pretend that he can make his pain disappear, and Kurogane can try his utmost to make his demons go away.
A/N: Feedback is appreciated, and very much loved on.
