French or Not?

I have a question. Why does everyone make Sesshomaru, Koga, Shippo, Sota, and Kikyo french? No offense to any french people, but why does everyone do that? They put Sesshoumaru, Kouga, Shippou, Souta, and Kikyou instead of how they are really spelled! You don't have to answer. I just want to know why. Are they thinking they are spelling 'you' without the 'y'? My friend and I want to know. So if you'd be as so kind as to answer my question, I'd love it. Ariagato!
