.:His Dream:.
It was one of the few times he had allowed him to sleep. Though, at any moment he could be on his feet, he relaxed considerably. The human girl who had caught his attention for the moment lay close to him, wrapped in a blanket, back to the dying embers of a flame. His retainer was no where in sight, not that this Sesshomaru cared. All was peaceful, and quiet.
His dream was not.
-----
He was walking out of a forest, though he didn't know where he was. As he cleared the tree line, a blue streak crashed into him full force, crying "PAPA!" Startled, though his stoic countenance never changed, he looked down upon the thing that was attached to his waist so adamantly, rubbing its cheek all over his torso.
It was a female hanyou with black dog ears and silver hair. Her Yukata was light blue, and it was exquisitely made. As she shifted her gaze up to his face, he saw she had golden eyes and gleaming fangs. As she smiled at him, the thing that made his stoic look drop from his face was the fact that a faint blue crescent moon was appearing on her forehead. His eyebrows raised in astonishment as he recognized this hanyou as his offspring, his pup.
"Papa! I missed you!" exclaimed the young hanyou.
He blinked, feeling another presence in front of him. He lifted his gaze to the woman who took the hanyou into her arms, cuddling her close. Her name echoed around his head, thought try as he might, he could not remember it.
"Now you know your father's tired from his travels," the woman said in a mock scoffing voice. "Why don't you go play with Uncle Inuyasha?"
"Awright!" The hanyou child leaped out of her mother's arms and into a hut not far off, where a muffled "OOMPH!" was heard.
Turning his attention back to the nameless female, she smiled and walked closer. Standing right next to him, she was still short, barely reaching his chest. That wasn't surprising in the least, as he towered over most humans, if not all. The surprising thing was that she smelled like himself. Captivated by this mystery, he was very startled when she threw her arms around his neck, hugging him.
"So how were your travels, husband?" she said, almost laughingly.
"Fine," he found himself saying. 'Curious,'he thought.
"My, your tight-lipped today. Something wrong?"
He shook his head, still wondering why.
"Sure?" she asked, burying her head into his fluffy tail, lips brushing the side of his neck.
He shuddered slightly, not enough for the female to notice, but enough for him to be, once again, startled. He, the Lord of the West, should not be reacting to a human like this!
As she looked up at him, he looked down into her eyes. They were captivating, deep, while still remaining childish; though she had to be over 20 years of age. As she smiled sweetly up at him, she muttered, "Mate," once again digging her head into his tail.
-----
He awoke, staring into the campfire pit. The embers had long died away, making the girl who craved its warmth shiver. Her blanket had come undone and lay scrunched up at her feet. Lord Sesshomaru silently stood, covering the small girl again, still consumed with the sights of his dream. Stirring from the human brought his thoughts back to the present.
"Sesshomaru-sama?" Her eyes were heavy with sleep, but all the same, brought him visions.
The woman from his dream, the mother of his child, his wife, his mate...was this tiny human child.
"Go back to sleep, Rin." The sound of her name was sweet on his tongue, something that had been missing from his dream. The child obeyed, sinking slowly into the dream world of a child.
He settled back down with his back to a tree, and gazed upon her sleeping face.
'Maybe...when she has grown...maybe that dream...won't be a dream anymore.'
