Everyone wants to belong.
When you get down to it, that's all there is, belonging. That's all anyone wants. What we all want to feel, to know. We are desperate for it, we just don't admit it.
Sirius belongs. He has that band of friends. They're close knit, have their own nicknames and secrets. It's like a private world for them. They're a family. I don't have that. Sure, I'm the son of Black – their only heir. But it's not a family. Not anymore. Not since Sirius left. I'm not even close to the other Slytherins – not like Lucius. I'm an outsider in my own House.
I have no brotherhood. I have no brother…In have nothing.
I want something. Desperately, I want anything.
That's why this is good. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm letting Vol- The Dark Lord brand me with his mark.
Everyone just wants to belong.
