Smile Again by Esse W.

Disclamer: Sadly... Naruto doesn't belong to me. The character from this poem, whom most of you will hopefully recognize, doesn't belong to me either. BUT the poem does! D

The sky is falling, the world is dying,

but what's a child to do.

this child no one would ever listen to,

all he can hope is that he'll soon be flying

away in a bright flash

in a single moment.

maybe fighting an opponent,

as the swords finally stop the constant clash,

he'll finally give in.

And yet... he holds on and fights

for his life with vicious snarls and bloody bites

he continues being a hated sin

protecting those who despise

and openly fear and hate him

as they turn their faces and his eyes grow dim

no one sees this little child as he cries

all they see are his eager bursts

that seem to brighten

the day and make all the pain lighten...

what they never see are all his hurts,

his pains, his bleeding wounds, and all his internal suffering...

but even with a perfectly painted mask

his lifeblood is slowing being drained,

and his true feelings are refrained,

as he sets out to do his cruel task...

because all he can do is smile again in the chilly welcome of morning
