This Isn't Home

A/N: This is a oneshot songfic to the song Home, from Beauty and the Beast's Broadway Musical.

By the way, I changed one single word in the song from papa to Harry, just so the ficlet wold make

sense. The song lyrics are in italics while the actual fic is in regular print.

Disclaimer: Depressingly, I don't own any of this- the song or the characters.

Yes, I made the choice...for Harry I will stay.

But I don't deserve to lose my freedom in this way.

You...monster! If you think that what you've done is right...

Well then, you're a fool. Think again.

She glared at her captor. He smiled innocently at her. She pulled back her left hand to slap him, but he

quickly grabbed her wrist. Silently, he placed a beautiful diamond ring on her finger. She gasped.

Inwardly, he was pleased. His face showed no emotion as he kissed her on the cheek and walked out

the door, locking er in the lavishly decorated room.

Is this home? Is this where I should learn to be happy?

Never dreamed that a home could be dark and cold.

I was taught everyday in my childhood, even when we grow old...

Home will be where the heart is...Never were words so true.

My heart's far, far away...Home is too.

She sighed quietly and moved to sit on the chair next to the window. 'What will I do?' she thought.

Slowly, a crystal tear slid down her cheek. She stared out the window at the amazing landscape

without really seeing it.

Is this home? Is this where I should learn to be happy?

Try to find something good in this tragic place.

Just in case I should stay here forever, held in this empty space.

Oh, but that won't be easy...I know the reason why.

My heart's far, far away...Home's a lie.

Suddenly, it dawned on her that this was her destiny. To be a trophy wife. To be seen and not heard.

That was the harsh reality of it all. This was it for her. There wasn't anything else in store. Unwillingly,

more tears made their silent way down her cheeks.

What I'd give to return to the life that I knew lately.

After a while, she dried her tears and accepted her position. She wasn't going to let this stop the life

around her. She just wasn't going to be a part of it. Her soul and heart was free, although her body

was imprisoned. But it didn't matter. She had done the right thing.

Is this home? Am I here for a day or forever?

Shut away from the world until who know when.

Oh, but then, as my life as been altered once, it can change again.

Build higher walls around me. Change every lock and key.

Nothing lasts, nothing holds all of me.

My heart's far, far away. Home...and free.

Solemnly, she walked down the aisle, a single red rose in her hands. She kept her face forward,

acknowledging no one in the church. Once she reached the altar, she placed her hand in his and the

priest began the ceremony. Softly, she said "I do." He kissed her. They were wed. The priest

announced, "Ladies and gentlemen...I give you Mr. And Mrs. Draco Malfoy."
