10:00 PM
Crime Lab
"Hey Sara!" Greg grinned at her as she passed him in the hallway.
She turned around and asked, "Yes?" She looked at him weirdly, because his grin looked a little more greggish than usual.
"Are you doing anything on Christmas eve?" His eyes glinted slyly.
"Greg," she said warningly. She had told him before: she had no interest in him as more than a friend or brother.
"Relax, Sar," he smiled. "I'm not asking you out. We're having a little party here at the lab and I knew no one had told you yet." She nodded, feeling a bit left out. Am I that unapproachable? She thought. Well... I guess I kinda am.
"So...?" Greg pressed. She smiled good-naturedly at him, and nodded. "Great! It starts at six PM." He yelled over his shoulder as he strode off.
Christmas Eve- 5:30PM
Sara's House
"Oh crap! What am I supposed to wear!" Sara cried as she dug through her closet, starting to freak out.
After a couple minutes, she stared at her bed; she had three outfits laid across it. The first was a low-backed, red tank top; accompanied by a knee-length, floaty black skirt. Another was a no-strap silver dress. Way too "ball room dancing", she laughed to herself and took that one away. The final choice was a white spaghetti strap with a blue button up blouse, and khaki kapris. After pondering the thoughts for a moment, she decided on the red top and skirt.
After getting dressed, pulling on black sandals, and grabbing her purse, she got in her Tahoe.
5:57 PM
Crime Lab Parking Lot
"Oh Lord!" Sara said, banging her head against her steering wheel. "Why did I say I'd come? I am such an idiot!"
"Sara?" Shit! Sara screamed in her mind as she looked wildly around. Greg was standing outside of her car, smiling. "You okay?" he asked.
She rolled down the driver's window, and said, "Yeah, yeah... Just... never mind. Did you come looking for me?" she asked, wearily.
"Oh no, I just got here." He laughed. He helped her out and they walked, silently, into the lab. Sara sighed, feeling a little uneasy when they walked into the large lobby. There was music, but Sara wasn't paying attention to what was playing. She went and sat down, looking around, and noticing she wasn't the only one looking out of place.
"Hey Gris," she said as she walked over and sat by her boss. He smiled weakly. "Having fun?" she teased. They both sat for a while, watching their coworkers laughing and some dancing. After at least half an hour, Grissom stood.
"Would you like a drink?" he asked. Sara smiled, nodding. Just as he walked away, a slow song started.
"Would you care to dance?" Sara looked up, surprised. Greg stood, grinning like usual. She laughed at his mock-British voice, not sure what to say. "C'mon, Sar." He made a puppy face, which made her laugh even more.
"Okay," she smiled as he took her hand. They got out in the middle of the room, among the few couples dancing.
Sara felt shivers up her spine as she put her arms around his neck. This is sooo not a good idea! She screamed at herself, silently. But she couldn't help but enjoy the feeling.
They danced the whole song, without realizing they were gazing into each other's eyes. At the end, before he could decide against it, Greg leaned in and kissed Sara.
"Merry Christmas," he smiled.
On the other side of the room, Grissom stood staring at the couple. A wave of hurt washed across his face. How did this happen?
A/N: hehe i just wanted a bit of fun! like it?
