Despair
What was going on with her? One moment she was crying her eyes out and now, sitting on Remus' lap with her hands around him she was confessing her love for him. No wonder he looked so shocked.
"I." she muttered, blushing furiously, but he stopped her by kissing her tenderly on her lips.
Tonks, who began to cheer up already had a huge smile on her face, "So that means." she whispered, it was almost like she could not believe it.
But Lupin was showing no emotions as he gently lifted her up and placed her back on the bed, even so gently he lifted her arms from his form before turning around.
"Remus. What?"
"It can't be, Nymphadora, I'm an old man, you are young and bright." Tonks interrupted him quickly, she had not even commented on him calling her by her first name. "I don't care!" She was almost on her feet but was stopped by the serious expression that was on his face as he turned around.
His eyes were hollow and full of sorrow and as he spoke his voice was full of sadness, "No Nymphadora, I don't have any money, I can't help you. You're 23 years old! I'm 35! This won't work. And lastly, think of my condition. My problem. I'm too dangerous for you."
"You have never tried to attack anyone," Tonks said on the verge of tears.
"I have, and that I have not bitten anyone is cheer luck," his voice sounded harsh, "Forget about me." With that the man turned around and walked to the door.
"Remus, please, " It was just a whisper, but enough to let Remus look around, what he saw was a broken young woman reaching out to him, sitting on her bed, still in her pajama's. Tears were rolling down her face but he turned around briskly walking out of the room.
Nymphadora Tonks collapsed on her bed, sobbing furiously, gasping for breath. He had not listened, he had just walked out on her. She had been deadly honest with him, she had showed him her heart, and he had not cared. He had said that this could not be. So did that mean that he had any feelings for her? That kiss surely had felt good, for the both of them, she was sure about that. That simple little kiss had been so full of love, even Remus could not deny that. And now he was gone. "Remus." she yelled, her voice full of sorrow, but she knew that he would not come. Life was over.
Now she was all alone; her cousin was dead, the man whom she loved had walked out of the room and with her parents she could not talk about anything. She did not dare to bother either Ginny or Hermoine with her problems; they were too young. Molly was far to worried already and Shacklebolt simply would not understand.
No, she was lost and alone in complete darkness.
