"I want to put the star on, Toya!"

"You can't, monster, you're too short."

Sakura pouted, clutching the shiny gold five-point star to her chest. "You and Dad always get to put it on, I want to do it this year!" she protested, almost on the verge of tears.

Toya, ever the sap for his little sister, sighed. "Come here."

Fujitaka watched from the doorway as his son easily picked his young daughter up by the waist, holding her high as she reached out to put the star onto the tree.

Unbeknownst to him, his wife Nadeshiko was watching over his shoulder, smiling as well.
