When I heard that Alphonse had been returned to his normal body, I'll admit I was skeptic. It'd been so long since they first started out to get their bodies back to normal, I had begun to believe it was impossible. And when Ed walked in the headquarters that day, after three-weeks paid vacation and still bearing automail, it made me even more skeptic.
That's when Al walked in.
'Shocked' didn't even begin to describe what I felt. It was difficult for me to be considerate to the boy and not stare at him like he'd grown two heads. His eyes were a kind amber, shades darker than his brother's golden orbs. His hair was ivory, reaching to the small of his back, a small aftermath of the transmutation I guessed. After a few minutes of congratulations to the two, the heat died down and the office returned to normal. But for some reason, I couldn't keep my eyes off of Al.
After a while, Ed was called into Roy's office, leaving Al alone. Walking down the hall to check if I had anymore paperwork to be done, I was a bit surprised to hear footsteps following after me. I ignored it for a while, but finally I couldn't and turned about to face my pursuer. I found an embarrassed-looking Alphonse standing behind me, who told me he had been lonely and wanted some company. I didn't blame him, seeing as he'd probably spent the last three weeks alone with his brother, getting reaccustomed to the feeling world.
Giving him a kind smile, I put a hand on his head and said, "Alright. You can hang out with me."
We went back to my office and talked, as well as played a few card games. I had never really known either Elric brother really well, seeing as they were always running in and out of the headquarters on their travels, but I began to discover Al for the first time. His kindness, his gentleness...Ed was lucky to have a younger brother like him. He was an angel. An angel with sins, but still an angel. I also discovered how well Al could play poker. And I had thought I was good.
Well, of course time flew, and the inevitable moment came when Edward walked in my office, seeking to bring his little brother home. I was surprised to find myself sad at having to lose Al's company. But as we were saying our temporary farewells, Al flashed me a smile so radiant I swore my heart stopped at that second. Needless to say, I walked home with a light heart and in a very good mood that night, though I couldn't quite figure out why. Then again, I didn't quite care why, either.
After that, Al and I began to spend a lot of time together. He truly enjoyed my company, and I his. It helped to pass the time, relieve my boredom, and get to know the younger Elric better. Besides, I found myself in a very happy mood whenever I thought of our next meeting, which slightly disturbed some of my comrades. I didn't care; Al was too kind to not put someone in an unfallible good mood.
Little did I know how deep my affections for Alphonse were going to grow.
Hello, my name is Jean Havoc, a second lieutenant serving beneath colonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist. And I have reason to believe I have fallen in love with Alphonse Elric.
Ashiterukara...
Necro: Honestly, I have no idea where this couple for me came from. I was just laying in bed one night, and an image of Havoc giving a blushing human Alphonse a kiss on the forehead popped into my head and spawned this. Yeah...anyway! Now it's one of my fave couples. Read and review, flames with be used to toast hotdogs for Zell. Ja ne!
