"Hey Ren."
A boy with dark purple hair with a spike in the back looked up from the book he was reading. He cocked an eyebrow at the grinning boy across the room. "What?" he asked edgily.
Yoh laughed and walked over to the couch Ren was lounging in. He sat down with a thump and peered over at the book Ren was holding. "What's that?"
"A book."
He laughed again. "You know…you look like a cat." He tilted his head to the side, studying Ren with a thoughtful look.
Ren coughed and dropped his book in surprise. "Excuse me?" he managed to say.
"A cat." Yoh repeated, nodding. He reached out to trace Ren's eyes, knowing that he wouldn't flinch like most people would. "You have cat eyes."
Ren rolled his 'cat eyes' and reached down to pick up his fallen book. "Right. Was that all you were going to tell me?"
Yoh frowned slightly and plucked the book from Ren's hands. He skimmed through a few pages and looked up at Ren with a confused look on his face.
"It's in Chinese, idiot." Ren sighed, holding out his hand for the book.
"Oh…can you teach me Chinese?" Yoh chirped, eyes brightening.
Ren looked at him with a bored expression. "No."
"Ah…please?"
"No."
"Then I won't give you back your book!" Yoh stuck his tongue out.
"Oh gee that's mature."
Yoh laughed and stood up. "Yes I am!" with that he tucked the book under his arm and raced out of the room laughing.
"What? Where are you going? Yoh!" Ren hollered, temper rising. He jumped up and chased after Yoh cursing in Chinese.
Finally he was able to pounce on Yoh and wrestle him to the ground. Yoh smirked up at him and stifled a laugh. "What's so funny?" Ren snapped, struggling to pull the book from Yoh.
"I told you you're like a cat." Yoh smiled easily, gazing up at Ren with a relaxed look.
Ren growled. "I am NOT like a cat."
"You did it again! You went all cat like!"
"Did not." Ren sniffed, still tugging at the book.
"You growled." Yoh pointed out, grinning widely.
Ren flushed angrily and momentarily forgot about the book, his attention focused on the shaman beneath him. "No I didn't!" he denied stubbornly.
Yoh suddenly leaned up and brought his lips to meet Ren's. Their lips brushed for a few long seconds before Yoh eased himself back down to the floor, smiling serenely at him. "It's okay, I'm a cat person."
He then sat up, pushing Ren off of him and stood up. Ren stared at the wall with a strange look on his face, fingers tracing his lips. He didn't even notice that Yoh had left the book by his side.
He spun around suddenly, standing up. "Yoh!"
Yoh turned around slowly, standing in the doorway. "Ren?"
"I decided to teach you some Chinese." Ren informed him quietly, walking over to him.
Yoh smiled. "Oh?"
Ren stopped once he was directly in front of Yoh. The two shamans stared at each other for a long moment before Ren leaned forward and whispered three words against Yoh's lips.
"Wo ai ni…"
He pressed himself against Yoh and kissed him passionately. Their tongues danced with each other as they explored their mouths. Ren wrapped his arms around Yoh's neck while Yoh snaked his around Ren's slender waist. After a few breathless moments of this Ren broke away panting.
"…That means I love you."
