Prologue: A Tale of Two Lovers
You were reading a book when your cellphone rang. You checked the label, and it read "Jay". You clicked open your cell and said, "Hello?".
"Hey, Lil. I need to tell you something. Can you meet me at CJ Park? It's urgent."
He hung up just as he finished the word 'urgent'. You were a bit freaked out. You didn't know what was going on. You quickly stuck a book mark into the book you were reading. You put on a long black trench coat, fished out your keys, and got into your car. You drove quick, but not fast enough to earn a visit from the police. You parked your car in front of a grim-looking dead tree and got out of the car to see Jay sitting there on the park bench. It looked like he was deep in thought. He saw you and walked over. He took your hand in his, and held it tight, interlocking each one of your delicate fingers with his. He didn't say anything, but just kept walking on, your hand in his.
You were still walking with Jay in the middle of CJ Park when .. suddenly an earthquake erupted, loudly shaking the ground. The ground was trembling, and the very boughs of the trees began to fall. The grim-looking tree had fallen onto your car and you knew it was time. You've seen the news, and didn't want to believe it. But now, it was becoming reality. The news on TV broadcasted scientists all around the world predicting that Earth was to split into two. One half staying where it had always been, and the other half floating off somewhere. You wanted Jay on your half, but knew there was a slim to none chance that he would end up with you.
"I'm sorry, Jay. I'm so sorry .. Let us say g o o d b y e with a kiss." You whispered into Jay's ear softly. He cringed when you said it; goodbye. He didn't want a goodbye.
He wrapped a hand around your waist, pulling you towards him. He cupped your face and pressed his lips onto yours, causing you to shiver. You shared one last passionate kiss with him, hugged him tight, broke away, and prayed with all your heart.
"Lil .. I loveyou. Don't leave me ..", but it was too late. The ground split in two .. right in between you and Jay. The stupid chance. It was too late to jump over. Earth was splitting too fast. The last thing you saw of Jay was a tear dropping from his dark green eyes.
"Jay .. I love you too." You whispered softly. It was the first time you said it to him .. and he couldn't even hear you. You couldn't help it. A tiny tear drop trickled down your cheek falling where the Earth had just broken apart. Just like you and Jay. Now .. Jay was gone, forever.
You looked out into the now grey sky and screamed your guts out .. Only to be heard by no one.
