Title: Star Gazing

"What are you thinking, Sasuke?" Naruto asked as they gazed up at the stars.

"Just thinking of how the stars never change. They still look the same as they do yesterday, and the day before."

"That's not true." The blonde said stubbornly.

"Yes it is. Stars never change."

"Then why is mine gone?" He replied softly.

"What are you talking about, dobe?" Sasuke rolled his eyes.

"When I was younger, there was this one star that I could see from my window. Every time the villagers were cruel to me, I'd look at that star and hope, and wish, and damn near pray that someone would come to protect me. It felt like, I dunno, that until Iruka-sensei took me under his wing, that there was someone who I could ask for help without feeling embarassed." Naruto blushed. "But you probably just think that's stupid."

Sasuke stared at him strangely, and Naruto suddenly felt self conscious.

"I wished that there was someone I could protect. Someone as warm as the sun, to make the cold in my heart go away. I wanted someone who I wouldn't fail." The Uchiha confessed. "After a while, the star I used to stare at was gone as well."

"The brightest one above the Hokage mountain?" Naruto asked slightly shocked.

The Uchiha smirked. "The same one. I think I know where it went though."

Naruto rolled over to look at him curiosity showing on his face. "Really? Where?"

"It's right here." Sasuke said as his lips met Naruto's in a soft kiss.

As they pulled away, Naruto stared at the other boy.

"Yeah, I think you're right." Naruto agreed, gazing at Sasuke's dark eyes, a smile dancing on his lips.

A/N: Well, That's a story that was under great influence of my new muse, Ayame-hebi! Kurayami-kun (my muse of angst and darkness... eh heh) was out at a New Year's muse party, and is probably laying wasted somewhere in a ditch.
