Chapter 3Remembrance
Lucius wakes to find Draco standing over him sneering that famous Malfoy sneer and tries desperately to pull his deeply aching body off the floor but fIndus he is just too weak to move.
"How does it feel to be helpless with no one to help you Father?" Draco whispers coldly
"Please Draco, not you too?" Lucius begs trying again to move from the floor.
"Are you honestly surprised Father? You shouldn't be. No one's going to save you anymore" He sneers staring his father in the eyes.
Lucius extends his hand for his sons help but Draco steps back letting his fathers arm slumps back to the floor.
"Draco...Please" he pleads his son. Draco steps forward but instead of helping him he kicks his Father, hard in the side over and over. His father begging him to stop.
"now you know how she felt Father, don't think I don't know what you did to her!"Draco roars as tears threaten to spill down Lucius' cheeks. Lucius holds them back as much as he can, after all he deserves this doesn't he?
"I hate you Father, I hope you die!" Draco spits before leaving the room.
When Draco is safely out of hearing distance Lucius begins to sob crawling over to the nearest chair and pulling himself painfully up onto the plush seat. Sitting in the chair in front of the fire crying, the heat of the flames is the only soothing thing in his world At that moment in time.
He didn't know how long he had sat there and cried perhaps hours or even days. He finally pulls himself from the plush chair heading out onto the grounds and heading out into the garden towards the old elm tree he used to climb as a child, his quiet place. He approaches the trunk and in the pitch black of the night smacks his knee off something hard. Pulling out his wand and pointing it into the darkness.
"Lumos!" What he sees makes his blood run cold
**Mandalay-Rose Malfoy Loved and lost without a chance to live**
Memories of that night when he had been so blindingly angry that he had beaten his wife brutally and killed his unborn daughter flood through his head. He drops to his knees clearing the branches from the small stone and rests his head against it, tears clouding his cold grey eyes and spilling down onto her grave.
"Darling, I am so sorry" he breathes quietly "I Hope wherever you are you can forgive me" He curls up against the stone and cries until he drifts off to sleep.
He wakes in the morning the sunlight beaming down in him brightly and brushes the leaves off his clothes. Debble appears in front of him suddenly, standing there uncomfortably.
"Master, Mistress wishes to speak with you in the Library" the elf squeaks
"tell her I will be there in an hour" he breathes looking down at the stone again.
"yes Master, As you wishes" and the little elf is gone.
Lucius gets up and moves into the rose garden picking the finest flowers he can find until he has at least a hundred beautiful pink roses and heads back up to the old elm tree Not realizing the he was now being followed.
He kneels down carefully and begins to neatly place the roses down at the foot of the stone Arranging them beautifully. He feels a hand brush his shoulder and turns to see Narcissa Standing over him, her gaze impassive.
"have you come to yell at me again Cissa? I am trying my hardest to right my wrongs and I know I haven't even come close but i'm trying so hard, And if you are here to tell me I should die then perhaps I should kill myself and that will content you and Draco" he spits, his emotions very clear.
"Lucius, I do see that you are trying, and I'm not here to condemn you, not now. I can see that you are not fit to handle it. I would like to make a point to tell you that what you have endured the last few days is what i have been facing for almost twelve years, and Killing yorself will not end Draco or my anger at you Lucius, only time can erase that" she breathes gently kneeling down and helping him lay the roses down then standing to survey the beauty of them. She extends her hand to him helping him up and wrapping her arms around him kissing him gently on the back of the neck.
"you are making a good start Lucius, but all is not forgiven, not yet"
