Disclaimer: I do not own Dragon Ball Z. It belongs to Akira Toriyama, Funi, and whoever else holds a piece of that pie. All I am is a fan.

Author's note: So sorry that its been so long since I updated! I just couldn't find the will to do more than a little bit at a time on this chapter. I have been going over the episodes that this chapter comprises of several times.

The time machine landed in the northwest mountain region, arriving ten minutes before Frieza and his father would land. Trunks pushed his ki down low, too low for the scouters to detect if they scanned for him passively or weren't set to be very sensitive. He could detect the other Z Warriors, though he could only identify one of the strong ones.

Gohan's.

It was much, much weaker than he was used to feeling it, unless Gohan had just been put through the wringer by the Androids, and even then it didn't feel healthy like it did now. The highest he could feel he knew was either his father or Piccolo. There was another, far weaker ki among them, one he knew better than any other.

His mother.

Why she was there, he did not know. His mom and Gohan had told him that Frieza and his father had simply shown up, then when Frieza's minions had been about to fight, Goku had shown up. Vegeta had fought King Kold and nearly died fighting him while Goku fought Frieza as a Super Saiyan. Goku had killed Frieza once and for all and then took care of Kold. However, Goku wasn't there now. And none of the Z Warriors, not even his father, Piccolo, or Gohan, were strong enough to even beat Kold, much less Frieza. And as far as Trunks could sense, Goku still wasn't even on Earth.

He, however, was.

He knew he was breaking his promise to his mother and Gohan, but he had to intervene. A few of Frieza's men began to leave, and they were all quite strong. There were enough of them to even take down his father and Piccolo. Drawing his sword, Trunks moves in quickly, taking out the henchmen that were leaving the rest. He resheathes his sword and appears before Frieza as the henchmen fall to the ground, dead. Frieza looked dead on at him with a cold, yet disinterested gaze.

"So you're Frieza," Trunks says, "I've heard a lot about you."

"Sorry, but I don't have time for an insect such as you," Frieza says, "kill him."

A big green alien with an arm blaster checks his scouter and scoffs.

"Five? Heh, you're pathetically weak. Not even a challenge." The alien raises his arm blaster and fires. Trunks merely knocks it away with one hand. Startled, the alien fires off some more shots, but Trunks deflects them all easily.

"What are you doing?" Frieza demands, "I said kill him."

The henchmen look at each other, then surround Trunks. They each hold up their blasters, all targeting Trunks. As a single unit, they attack Trunks, but he jumps above them and unsheathes his sword and attacks them all. When he stops and sheathes his sword, the various henchmen fall to the ground, dead, except for one. The armor on the single remaining henchman slowly shows cracks and pieces of it falls off. He begins to back up, scared speechless, but is killed by Frieza who shoves his hand through the henchman's stomach.

"Coward," Frieza huffs, then turns his full attention to Trunks. Trunks smirks.

"So, Frieza, now that you don't have any more flunkies to hide behind, are you going to fight me?" Trunks taunts.

"Why would I waste my time with a bug like you?" Frieza asks disdainfully, "I don't have time to waste with you. I am waiting for someone."

"So I heard," Trunks says, "but I'm canceling your date with Goku." That caught Frieza's attention.

"Whats a goku?" the mammoth King Kold asks his son. His voice sounded surprisingly civilized for someone so big.

"Father, please," Frieza says, "I know you're bored but please try to pay attention." He looks at Trunks. "So, you know the Saiyan monkey, I take it?"

"By reputation," Trunks replies, "we'll meet soon enough."

"Ha ha," Frieza mockingly laughs, "boy, you may be tough at whatever rock you crawled out from under, but to me you are less than nothing. And when that pathetic Saiyan gets here, he will find everyone that he knows dead!"

"I'm sorry," Trunks says, "but only one of us is gonna be here to meet Goku."

"Oh, I couldn't agree more," Frieza chortles, "but boy, if you value your life, you will leave now."

"I think not," Trunks says forcefully, "I think its time you learned what its like to fight a real Super Saiyan, and I'm not talking about Goku."

Frieza's eyes widened for a moment, then he got himself back under control and started laughing. "You had me going there for a moment, kid, but stop kidding yourself. I could kill you anytime I want."

Trunks smirks and takes a stance. He begins powering up. His hair begins to raise up in the classic Super Saiyan shape as well as begin to flash between his natural lilac and Super Saiyan golden yellow. His eyes flash between their natural color, sky blue, and a solid-irised teal green. Frieza watches Trunks transformation with horror and fear. His mind was flashing back to watching Goku transform into a Super Saiyan on Namek. Trunks' muscles bulge slightly as the transformation finishes, his power level going far higher than Frieza's and his father's. The younger Changeling looks at Trunks in undisguised fear while King Kold watches with apprehensive curiosity.

"W-what is he?" King Kold demands.

"So, you're a Super Saiyan," Frieza chuckles, "I thought only Vegeta, Goku, and that half-breed brat were the only ones left with any Saiyan blood."

"Obviously you were mistaken," Trunks replies. Frieza snorts and fires a ki blast at Trunks. Trunks merely knocks it away. Frieza scowls and fires a much stronger ki blast. Trunks blocks the blast with both hands and it drives him back, the blast slowly shatters and the shattered pieces tear up the terrain. Trunks finally uses a blast of his own to finish of Frieza's blast and rockets back t his previous position.

"Is that the best you can do, Frieza?" Trunks demands. Frieza scowls then leaps into the air and prepares his planet destroyer. The same attack that had destroyed planet Vegeta and planet Namek.

"Take this, monkey!" Frieza hurls the attack down at Trunks. The attack connects and begins to sink into the ground. Frieza grins smugly, but his grin disappears as the attack begins to rise back out of the ground. Trunks was carrying it!

"I believe this is yours?" Trunks asks as he holds Frieza's Death Ball up with just one hand.

Frieza scowls and launches a ki blast into the Death Ball, causing it to explode violently. Frieza smiles smugly, thinking that he had finally defeated that pesky monkey. His smile vanishes a moment later.

"Hey Frieza!" Trunks yells from his perch on a nearby rock ledge just before he unleashes his Burning Attack. The ki blast rockets towards Frieza. Just as Frieza begins to move to dodge the attack, Trunks makes his move. As Frieza soars into the air, Trunks pulls out his sword and holds it in a double-handed grip above his head. Frieza looks up just in time to see Trunks hovering above him.

The mighty Changeling lets out a yell of defiance just before Trunks brings his weapon down. At first it seems as if nothing happened, then Frieza begins to slide into two pieces.

"Frieza!" King Kold bellows just before Trunks makes several more slashes with his sword, chopping the Changeling tyrant into several pieces before disintegrating them with a strong ki blast. He sheathes his sword and floats down to face King Kold.

King Kold looks at Trunks for a moment before calming himself.

"It looks like Frieza underestimated you," King Kold says calmly, "how would you like to join me? Take Frieza's place by my side? This world and others like it would be but the merest of baubles in your hand."

"I think not," Trunks replies evenly, "you see, I have something called a conscience. I couldn't needlessly take lives like Frieza has. I've seen that firsthand at the hands of monsters far worse than Frieza."

"Then you must at least let me see your sword," King Kold says, "such a marvelous weapon deserves to be admired by one who can appreciate such beauty."

Trunks unsheathes his sword his sword and hands it over to King Kold. The large Changeling looks the weapon over, obviously appreciating the fine broadsword.

"Yes, this is obviously a powerful weapon," King Kold says, "in fact, I would go as far to say that without this sword, your fight with my son would have had a very different outcome."

"Believe what you want," Trunks replies coldly, "it's the warrior, not the weapon, that matters."

"So you say!" King Kold laughs, gripping the hilt of the broadsword with both hands, "you made a mistake handing me your weapon, boy! Now you are defenseless, you insignificant little monkey!"

King Kold swings the sword at Trunks, but Trunks easily catches it in his right hand in a pincer grip with his thumb and forefinger. This startles the large Changeling.

"Wh-what? Impossible!"

"So you think," Trunks replies, raising his left hand and firing a ki blast that rips through King Kold, sending him crashing into the mountain behind him. Trunks flips his sword up in the air, catches it, and sheathes it.

"W-wait, have mercy on me!" King Kold pleads, "my son was evil, not I. I only want peace."

"I think not," Trunks replies, "I know your kind. You grovel and beg when faced with a superior opponent like me. You'll just come back and blow up the Earth before we can get you."

Trunks charges up a strong ki blast and hurls it at King Kold, killing him effortlessly. He then raises up into the air and fires a blast at the Changeling ship, destroying it and the remaining crew. He settles back down to the ground, letting go of Super Saiyan, returning to normal. He turns to look at the Z Warriors, who had come closer and were all flying, his mother hanging off of Yamcha's neck.

"I'm heading off to a place near here to meet Goku!" he calls out, "would you guys like to come?"

He could tell that they were startled by his announcement, as well as his easy handling of Frieza and King Kold. He points in the direction of where he knew Goku would land. "It's over this way! Goku will be there in a couple of hours!"

He waits a few moments to let them think it over. He could see the disbelief on his father's face. Trunks had a feeling that Vegeta was trying to figure out how he was a Super Saiyan. "Hey, follow me! Don't worry, I won't bite!"

"This way!" he calls out before taking off. He could feel Gohan being the first one to take off after him, followed by Piccolo and then the rest of the Z Warriors.

After a few minutes flight, Trunks checks his watch, examining the topographical map display. "Wow, my tracking meter works with the original satellite. You rule gramps!"

He looks down, examining the area. "Yeah, this is it." Trunks lands in another barren area. The others follow him and land, his mother sliding off of Yamcha. Trunks looks around, then reaches into his left front jacket pocket and pulls out a small capsule case. He opens it and pulls out a capsule labeled "2031". He clicks it and tosses it to a ground. A small explosion of smoke and a refrigerator is where the capsule had been. He reaches down and opens it up, pulling out an orange soda. He turns and looks at the others.

"How about a cold drink? Goku's not due for a couple of hours." He stands and opens his soda. "It's pretty hot and dry out here." He takes a sip.

"Well, I don't see why not," Bulma says.

"Yeah!" Gohan laughs and breaks out in a slow run to the fridge.

"Hey, Gohan!" the short bald one, who he knew to be Krillin, says.

"Chill out Krillin, their just soda's," Bulma says as she walks to the fridge.

"Oh, wow, what a great selection!" Gohan cheers as he peers into the fridge.

"Ooh, I'm starting to like this guy," Bulma says, "he has root beer!"

"Orange for me!" Gohan says as he grabs one of the other orange soda's. Trunks hides his smile behind his can. He had developed his taste for orange soda from Gohan.

"ahhh, good stuff!" Gohan says after he takes a drink.

"Yeah, super!" Bulma agrees after she takes a sip of her root beer.

"Is there, uh, grape guys?" Krillin asks.

"Yeah, two grapes!" Gohan says as he tosses one of the cans of grape soda to Krillin as the bald former monk walks over. The two friends laugh and drink.

Trunks notices Bulma staring at him. "Have we met? You seem sorta familiar."

"Uh, no, we haven't," Trunks half-lies, "sorry."

"Excuse me sir," Gohan says, startling Trunks He wasn't used to anyone, much less a younger version of the man he saw as a big brother, calling him sir. "But how do you know my dad."

"Actually, I've never met your dad before," Trunks replies, "I've only just heard about him."

"Then how do you know he's gonna be here in a few hours?" Krillin asks.

"Well, I, uh," Trunks stammers before looking down, "I'm sorry, but I can't answer that."

"Why not?" Vegeta asks harshly, "I'll tell you. Because your up to something! Tell us now, tough guy, who are you?!"

"I wish I could tell you," Trunks says, looking away.

"When you defeated Frieza and that big guy, you were a Super Saiyan, weren't you?" Gohan asks.

"Yes," Trunks answers, "I was."

"That's a lie!" Vegeta says, even more harshly than before, startling Gohan and Krillin, "Kakarot, the one you call Goku, and myself are the only Saiyans left. Kakarot's kid there is half-Saiyan, so if you count him, that makes three of us! There is no way you can have Saiyan blood."

Everyone looks at Trunks. Then Gohan looks back at Vegeta. "Yeah, but we saw him! He defeated Frieza, and that huge guy, all by himself!"

"Well," Vegeta huffs, "I'm calling him a liar, not a weakling."

It was then that Bulma noticed something. "Hey, you've got our logo on your jacket. That's my dads company. Are you one of our employees?"

"No, just a fan," Trunks blushes, having forgotten about the Capsule Corps. Logo on his jacket.

"Well then, tell me your name and I'll recommend you to my dad," Bulma presses.

"I'm sorry, I can't do that," Trunks says. This was getting hard! The one person anywhere that he could not keep a straight face when lying to was his mother, even if this Bulma technically wasn't his mom! "I know this is strange."

"Ooh," Bulma says, "mystery man!"

"Is his shoe size secret too?" Tien scoffs.

"Yeah, why can't I have a secret name?" Yamcha jeers, "that's not fair. I bet you have a secret spy decoder ring too!"

"Knock it off you two," Bulma says, "your just jealous. This guy just defeated Frieza single-handed. So there!"

With that said, Bulma winks at Trunks, causing him to blush. His own mother was flirting with him! This was gonna be a long two hours!

an hour later

Everyone was lazed about on various rocks. Trunks couldn't keep his eyes off Vegeta, still trying to absorb the fact that his father was wearing a pink shirt with the words "Bad Man" on it. His mother and Gohan never told him about that. He could tell that Vegeta was getting irritated.

"What are you looking at?" Vegeta snarls.

"Nothing!" Trunks says, slightly embarrassed, "I, uh, just like your shirt."

"You would," Vegeta mutters disdainfully.

Elsewhere, Gohan was deciding to finally ask Piccolo something he had been wondering about for a while now.

"Hey Piccolo, can I ask you something?"

"What's that?" the gruff Namekian warrior asks.

"Well, when Dende and the other Nameks left to go to that other planet, why didn't you go with them?" the young demi-Saiyan asks, "why did you choose to stay here with us? They're your people."

"Well, I might go and join them someday," Piccolo explains, "but for now, I feel that I my mission is here on Earth. Sometimes the bond between people can run deeper than where they're from or what color skin they have."

Gohan nods in understanding as master and student await for the return of the students father, the masters longtime rival and now friend.

Bulma is watching Trunks and Vegeta's slight interactions. Something about those two was plaguing her mind.

"Hey, is it me or do those two look alike?" she asks Krillin.

"Well, now that you mention it, I can kinda see a resemblance," the bald former monk says, "well, in looks anyway. That new guy is pretty nice, but Vegeta has the personality of a stump."

"Well, he's a prince," Bulma says, as if that explained everything.

"So what?" Krillin asks.

"Well, princes have to act like that, like the worlds not good enough for them," Bulma replies.

Krillin blinks and looks at the new guy and Vegeta once again. "Well, Vegeta acts more agitated than bored," Krillin remarks, "like he's got a bad case of hemorrhoids or something."

Trunks couldn't help glancing at his father. The man was so uptight, so angry! He was just like his mother and Gohan had described him. In fact, everyone was, so far. Only meeting Goku would tell. Trunks personally hoped that Goku was everything he was cracked up to be. He'd have to if they were to stand a chance against the Androids.

"What are you looking at?!" Vegeta snarls, "haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before? Grrrr, if you like it so much, you can have it!"

Yes, definitely the way mother and Gohan had described him, right down to the surly attitude. Trunks had a gut feeling that the only reason Vegeta had not attacked him yet was because he had just watched Trunks kill Frieza and King Kold without breaking a sweat.

"No, no thank you," Trunks replies.

"Then knock it off kid," Vegeta says sternly. Trunks couldn't help but smile, though this only infuriates Vegeta more.

"Maybe Goku met this guy somewhere out in space, Chiao Tzu," Tien muses, "he has been gone a while."

"But he told Gohan that he's never met Goku!" the childlike Chiao Tzu answers.

"But how could he know the exact place Goku is gonna arrive, two hours before it happens?" Tien asks.

"Maybe he's wrong," Yamcha says from his place standing near Bulma, "maybe Goku isn't gonna show!"

Everyone is silent for a moment, Goku's friends looking up at the sky from which their old friend was gonna show.

"Well he said it would be two hours, right?" Bulma asks.

"Yeah," Yamcha says.

"Well, how long has it been?" Bulma asks, a bit too sweetly. Yamcha misses the tone in her voice.

"And hour," he answers.

"Well then, wait some more!" Bulma snaps. Trunks couldn't help but smile. His mother definitely did not change in attitude. Maybe she was more mature in his time, as well as looking a bit worn, but her overall attitude had not changed.

After two hours passed, Trunks' watch beeped. He checked it then stood up.

"Okay, the two hours are up," he tells everyone, "Goku should be arriving any minute now."

The others stood, stretching out their senses, except for Bulma who could only look up. A few moments later the Z Warriors sense something. It was a huge power level.

"Oh my gosh, Tien!" Chiao Tzu cries out as he ops up into the air.

"I now Chiao Tzu, I feel it too," Tien says.

"It's him!" Krillin exclaims.

"I don't know what your talking about guys," Bulma says as she looks up into the sky, "my woman's intuition isn't picking up anything."

"No, its really him!" Gohan says happily, "its my dad! I knew he'd come back!"

Trunks smiles. He had never seen Gohan so happy, so carefree. It pained him to see Gohan like this, knowing what would happen. A few moments later a space pod comes crashing down a few hundred feet away from them. Everyone rushes to the spot, Gohan in the lead. The pod opens and out steps a spiky-haired man that Trunks had only seen in pictures. Earth's greatest champion, the man whom his Sensei respected more than anyone, the man who his mother and Gohan were so sure would make all the difference.

Goku, the first Super Saiyan in three thousand years.

However, his outfit looked absolutely ridiculous. Trunks had never seen anything so ridiculous. And from the looks on the faces of the others, they hadn't either, though it was overshadowed by the joy that they felt at seeing their friend or father back. Well, except for Vegeta. Goku floats up out of the crater his pod had created.

"Hi you guys. How did you all know I was gonna be here?"

"This guy told us," Bulma explains, pointing out Trunks, I think he may be one of your fans. He's a mystery man."

"He knows all about you daddy!" Gohan pipes up.

Goku studies Trunks face, puzzlement clear in his expression. "But how?

"He knew the exact location of where you would land, Goku," Bulma continues.

"But how?" Goku asks, "we've never even met!"

"Well, that's what he said," Bulma answers, "but he must have been tracking your ship in outer space!"

"Hmm, I don't think so," Goku says, "Frieza tried that but I could sense his power level as he passed me. He sure was in a hurry to beat me home. But gosh, what in the world happened here? Who defeated Frieza? Was it you Vegeta? Or maybe you, Piccolo."

"It was neither of us," Piccolo explains, "this guy did. He did it with ease."

"Huh?" Goku wonders, turning his attention back to Trunks.

"He turned into a Super Saiyan and picked him apart," Piccolo continues.

"A Super Saiyan?" Goku wonders aloud, "that's incredible! Can you imagine, a Super Saiyan at his age? Fantastic!"

"Are you forgetting something Kakarot?" Vegeta demands, "you, your son and I are the only Saiyans still alive!"

"Hmm, well, if he says he's a Super Saiyan then that's good enough for me," Goku says.

"Oh honestly Goku, you are way too easygoing sometimes!" Bulma snaps.

"No I'm not," Goku replies.

"Hey Goku, can I talk to you for a minute, alone?" Trunks asks. Goku nods and the two of them take off for the other side of the crater.

"Thanks," Trunks says, relieved that Goku would trust him. Though if he was as powerful as his mom and Gohan had said, then he didn't have much to fear. It was time for him to come clean. He just hoped that Goku would believe him. If he didn't, then the Earth was doomed.

I sincerely hope that this was worth the wait. I got quite a few other stories going on, including my other DBZ fic Warrior's Displaced in Time, another fic that is a Harry Potter fic, a Digimon fic, an X-Men: Evolution fic, a Sailor Moon fic, and a few fics I haven't posted. I hope you liked this chapter. Yes, this story will be a bit of a rewrite of DBZ from the Future Trunks saga to the end of the Perfect Cell saga, but it will turn out a bit differently. Also, since I do not have access to the episodes that I need, it will of course be a bit different. At least, that's what my current plans are. I will really start on this story once Warrior's Displaced in Time is finished, and that won't be too much longer, and I'll still work on this.

Summary: A very nice rewrite of the post-Garlic Jr. saga's up to the end of the Cell Games. It has Mirai Pan in it, and it is a Mirai Trunks/Mirai Pan fic.

My opinion: This is the story that, in part, inspired Time Traveling Saiyans. A must read.

As always, please review.
