She looked out the window every day, waiting. The hours would drag on, but she wouldn't move until the sun went down. Day after day, no one showed up. Not him, nor the little red car. She never wanted the little red car, but she always wanted something. The car pulling up, a Sargent O'Brien stepping out, taking his hat off, looking at her through the window solemnly, and walking up to the door.
I never said I'd lie and wait forever
If I died we'd be together now
I cant always just forget her
But she could try
He heard the bombs exploding all around him. His friends dying; the people who had become brothers to him, who he could trust the most. Gunshots rang out everywhere. He peeked up to find a target. His eardrums were about to burst as the sounds of war trapped him in. A bomb exploded to his left. If he would have been a foot closer he would have been injured.
At the end of the world
or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
And all the words that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever ever
She looked down at her little baby boy, the one he hadn't seen yet. "Hey there Danny. Daddy is off at war. When he comes home though, he's going to be so happy to see you! And when he finds out that you are named after him, he's going to be even more happy."
"Gah!" He was so innocent. What if his daddy never came home? Inside her soul died.
Ever Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs in my arms
She dies she dies
He ran closer, and saw his best friend was shot. "No!" His heart yearned for Evelyn. Her face flashed through his mind. All her smiles, her promises. All his scars from training she kissed. Tears ran down his face as he cried for Evelyn, for Raffe, and for the souls and ghosts of the dying men around him.
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
She saw the little red car pull up to the house next door. Inside she died all over again. Tears streamed down her face. Little Danny cried at the top of his lungs. The poor baby.
If I fall
He got shot. He didn't feel anything. His mind went blank. I'm going to die. The last thing that went through his mind was Evelyn's face.
If I fall (down)
The little car left the house next door. It pulled up and blocked off her driveway. Sargeant O'Brien stepped out, took his hat off, looked at her solemnly and walked up to the front door.
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna
