Two Little Surprises

Chapter One

Spike opened his eyes and looked around Angel's office. He was laid out on the couch, chest bandaged nicely. He looked at the clock and saw that he'd been sleeping for a couple of hours, meaning that either he had been very tired, or something had been slipped into his mug of blood. He decided on a mix of the two.

He sat up, wincing as the damaged muscles in his chest twinged. He'd been out patrolling, when he was suddenly attacked from behind by a demon that had looked remarkably like the product of a lizard-man and an oversized bunny-rabbit. It had been a long fight. If Spike had been a human he would have been long-dead from the ferocious slashings from the demons claws. When Angel and his gang had found him, the damage to Spike had been quite extensive, whereas the only damage Spike had managed to inflict on the demon was to tear one of its stupid floppy bunny-rabbit ears off.

Spike frowned, hearing voices from the lobby on the other side of the door. The voices seemed to be arguing about whether it was alright to see him and in doing so, wake him.

His frown became deeper, hearing a young woman's high voice, a familiar voice. It couldn't be. Could it? Would she have come here to see him?

No, it couldn't be her, as far as he knew, she hadn't been told he was alive, nor had her sister.

He stood up, careful not to re-open any of the numerous wounds all over his body, and moved to where he could see out of the window into the lobby. It was her! She had come to see him!

He walked to the door, and opened it quietly so that no-one noticed him.

"Nibblet." Dawn looked up and saw Spike standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed in front of his chest. She broke into a big smile. That was the Spike she knew, exuding confidence, love, and just a touch of arrogance and cockiness.

"Hi Spike." She said it with such happiness that Spike had to smile. They both moved toward each other and spent the next few minutes hugging laughing, and kissing cheeks and foreheads. They were interrupted by four small arms encircling Dawn's legs.

Spike looked down to see the two small children looking up at Dawn imploringly.

"Hungry," said one.

"Up," said the other.

"You got something to tell me Bit?"

A/N: Sorry it's short, but this seemed like a good place to end. It may take a little while for me to update for two reasons.

One, I wrote this chapter probably about a year ago, and I don't think I made any notes on it, so I've kinda forgotten what I was going to write about, so I'll try to remember, but if I don't, then I'll update anyway.

The second reason updating may not be quick is that my exams are coming up and I need to do a lot of revising for them.

Oh, and due to the fact that I'm British, the spelling is also British. I do know some American spellings, but if I tried writing using them, I'd just get confused.

I'll try to keep the author's notes down on the next chapters.

Please read and review! Oh and if you want to suggest some things to help me a bit, then go ahead.
