Prologue – The Sixth
Legend tells of the great Titans, the shapers of this world, who in their wisdom bestowed their own immortal powers upon the mightiest of all races on Azeroth, the Dragons, who were entrusted with keeping the world safe from the evils that would seek to undo the gentle balance established. These flights, composed of the Black, the Blue, the Bronze, the Red, and the Green, were each given total control over the many aspects of the known universe.
To each they were given a unique gift. To each, a charge to which they would never forsake. These were the Dragon Aspects.
But there was one who became corrupted by the very darkness to which he was empowered to defend against. Tearing away his own flesh, he became a monster, a perverted being of unmistakable evil whose own betrayal would shake the very foundation of the other aspects. His vile cunning would bring pain and suffering to all mortal and immortal races, and his trickery would lead them to divulge even their greatest secrets.
From his lair, he carried out unethical experiments in an attempt to further his own power. He enslaved the lesser beings of the other great flights, and forced them to become his slaves…and with each one who fell prey to his power, another piece of his ultimate puzzle was completed, for he was searching not only to create a more powerful being, but to create a being whose powers would rival that of the Titans themselves.
His name was Neltharion, the leader of the Black Dragonflight.
To create a sixth aspect, a being comprised of the other flights, to which all their abilities would be blended into one ominous force, would be unstoppable; This was his goal. Every day until the day he was cursed by Alexstraza, he carried out his rigorous work, hoping that he would eventually stumble upon the key to his ultimate creation. Even after he left the world in wretched pain, his own son, Nefarian, would carry on his father's work some many thousands of years later.
But, as fate would have it, it would be neither Nefarian nor Neltharion who would create the sixth aspect…
