Raito stared at the dark ceiling. He shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position on the bed. The chain jingled, causing him to curse silently under his breath.

'This chain will be the death of me,' he thought and turned his head to glare at the man responsible for the bloody thing. L snored in response.

Raito returned to staring at the ceiling in defeat. The nerve of that man, he wouldn't let Raito go to sleep until he had gone through several government systems Raito had hacked into today. The whole time L sat over his shoulder, uncomfortably close, examining and judging him. Apparently Raito's hacking skills made his suspicion raise by something like 4.5 percent, as a result Raito now lay awake stressing.

Raito shivered, the evidence was starting to get to him, he repeated his mantra in his head, 'I am not Kira, I am not Kira'. But he couldn't rid himself of the feeling of dread. The was the bus ride, the fiancé, Mira as the second Kira, and everything else...it was getting to be too much.

Raito felt beaten down, and utterly alone. Even his father had taken to giving him looks. The only one who didn't seem to suspect him was Mira, and she was frankly just frustrating. The handcuff around his wrist was itching him again, he tugged roughly at the chain hoping to rouse the snoring detective. L merely rolled over away from Raito mumbling something about strawberries. For the first time in awhile Raito felt himself smile. Who would have ever have thought the great detective L was such a man.

Raito's chain clinked again as he rolled to stare at L's back, the sound was suddenly oddly comforting. Raito unconsciously shifted closer to his bed partner. He closed his eyes, and drifted off, he didn't feel quite so alone.
